The timing of the sudden departure of the head of the developers' association, amidst two probes into the appearance of insider trading on Ford's Greenbelt Grab, raises even more questions.

If only #ONpoli would pass #Bill40, we would have reliable meaningful penalties for killer drivers:
👉License suspension until
👉Remedial Driver training completed
👉Community service completed
👉Mandatory appearance in traffic court to hear victim impact statements

A common tactic of the automobile industry is to design and market cars which are deadly to *other people* then impute the injuries and deaths those cars cause to whatever the victims were doing. Walking, biking, scooting and small cars aren’t dangerous. Bloated SUVs/trucks are.
ERs in places like Almonte, Chesley and Carleton Place are closing temporarily and Minden's ER has permanently closed. Meanwhile @fordnation found millions for the ER closest to his cottage. All communities deserve access to health care. #onpoli#onhealth https://t.co/S7sdJn5Mrf
Minister of Education @sflecce has had three years to improve indoor air quality in Ontario schools and show his work. His continued refusal to do so simply emphasizes how little he cares about the health and well-being of our kids and their educators. #onted#CleanAirForAll
Hospices in Ontario have to fundraise to stay open & provide care…
YET
For-profit long-term care homes (Orchard Villa!) get an additional subsidy of up to $35 per bed, per day, for 25 years if construction starts by Aug. 31
Palliative care is health care.
#onpoli@HPCOntario
This is austerity by stealth.
It is cruel to withhold funding from healthcare, education, housing, when so many people are hurting. Record closures of Emergency Depts, full closure of hospitals like #mindenmatters or reduced education supports. Ontario deserves better #onpoli
When your local car lobbyists inevitably yap on about transit and biking as “socialism”, and when they struggle with the fact that drivers they are subsidized to the hilt, this is a good story to bring into the conversation…
If I get on my bike for my morning commute (as I did today) or if I get in my car for my morning commute I pay exactly the same taxes.
This idea that cyclists do not pay taxes is just weird.
I am as entitled to the road on my bike as I am when I get in my car.
@mmpadellan Agree. Listening to both sides for years while one side speaks and acts & repeatedly found guilty for criminal acts (with many criminal acts never resulting in charges) while the other side is truthful to a fault and accused of living in a silo. That is not journalism CNN.
@phil8up@TheBikingLawyer@TorontoPolice Hypocrite. Same square peg round hole applies to trying to ticket cyclists for a breaking laws that most motorists break but aren't ticketed for. When was the last time any vehicle was stopped for driving 110km/h on any 400 series highway, or 10km/h over the limit on any street?
@phil8up@TheBikingLawyer@TorontoPolice I suppose you drive a completely N.A. built vehicle, only ever fuel with N.A. gas, use N.A. tires, and a N.A. phone? Universal ideas apply everywhere. Being oblivious or behind the times doesn't excuse ignorance.
@phil8up@TheBikingLawyer@TorontoPolice One day - when N.A. looks more like European examples like how the Netherlands made good on vision zero by road design changes, and being done in Paris now - we will wonder how we tolerated the deaths and healthcare costs of from the dangerous operation vehicles for so long.
@phil8up@TheBikingLawyer@TorontoPolice The same holds true pretty much anywhere with vehicles. The problem is N.America puts little effort into accurate studies. British Insurance companies, the list goes on all with the same results that on average cyclists break fewer traffic laws than motor vehicle drivers.
