#GrowWithBTO by supporting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection
Today, I held my maiden meeting with top management of the Ministry of Youth Development, including the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya; Directors of the Ministry; Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed; and the Director General, CLTC, Mr. Adesoji Eniade.
During the meeting, I called for cooperation and unity, emphasizing the need for staff members in the directorate cadre to embrace middle-level and junior staff; and to operate an open-door policy that would enhance cross-fertilization of ideas in the Ministry.
I also charged the management of the ministry to work hard within the next few months to change the narrative and perception about the Youth Development Ministry.

🔵 Blue Economy: Exploring Nigeria's Potentials.
“The Blue Economy is estimated to be worth more than $1.5 trillion per year globally, providing over 30 million jobs and serving as a crucial protein source for over 3 billion people.” - @WorldBank
Mr. President @officialABAT, yesterday's appointment of a Minister of Marine and Blue Economy @BTOofficial marks a significant stride towards harnessing Nigeria’s Marne potentials.
Today, the 77th day of our 100-day engagement, let’s dive into an ocean of opportunity - the Blue Economy. Defined by the World Bank as the "sustainable use of ocean resources to benefit economies, livelihoods, and ocean ecosystem health.”
In global context, the Blue Economy encompasses diverse activities that harness the potential of our oceans. It offers a pathway to economic growth and environmental sustainability.
Now let’s come home, see how this can be harnessed:
- Maritime Shipping: Nigeria's strategic location on the Gulf of Guinea positions us as a key player in maritime trade. By investing in port infrastructure and optimizing trade routes, we can enhance our role as a trade hub, boosting revenue and employment.
- Fishing & Aquaculture: With our abundant aquatic resources, sustainable fishing and aquaculture can meet local demand for protein, reduce imports, and create jobs.
- Coastal Tourism: Our breathtaking coastal landscapes are untapped treasures. Developing sustainable tourism infrastructure can attract both local and international visitors, stimulating economic growth and job creation in host communities.
- Renewable Energy: Nigeria's coastline offers immense potential for harnessing ocean currents, tides, and wind energy, enhance energy security, and foster innovation.
- Water Desalination: Addressing water scarcity through desalination can support agriculture, industries, and communities.
- Undersea Infrastructure: Enhancing global communication through undersea fiber optic cables can attract technology investments, creating jobs and boosting the digital economy.
- Seabed Extractive Industries & Deep Sea Mining: Responsible exploration of mineral resources can contribute to industrial growth, job creation, and revenue generation.
- Marine Genetic Resources: Exploring marine organisms' genetic potential aligns with biotechnological advancements. This sector can yield innovations in medicine, agriculture, and industry, fostering economic diversification.
- Biotechnology: Leveraging ocean-derived compounds for medical research and agricultural innovation can lead to new industries, high-value exports, and intellectual property generation.
Mr. President, the Blue Economy offers a strategic framework for economic diversification, and reduce our reliance on single commodities.
As we look to diversify our economy, the Blue Economy is a unique opportunity. It aligns with the Renewed Hope you envisioned for Nigeria, where economic progress and ecological balance go hand in hand.
Let's seize the tides of change, key into the World Bank’s Blue Economy PROBLUE Program.
That's all for today, Mr. President. See you tomorrow.
May God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬

A Biblical perspective on Marine and Blue Economy
"They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; these see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep."
Psalm 107:23-24 KJV
"Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee."
Isaiah 60:5
The above Bible verses speak to the amount of global wealth that is traded on the sea and treasures that reside inside the ocean. King David wrote about it and Prophet Isaiah proclaimed it. African Union in a report said the Blue Economy can fetch Africa over $300 billion annually.
Maritime lawyer, Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) and other industry experts said Nigeria can get between N7 trillion to N10 trillion annual revenue from maritime economic activities and the sector can create opportunities for thousands of new jobs with the right laws and targeted reforms.
The earth is 71% ocean and 29% land. United Nations Conference of Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said 80% global trade is moved through the sea.
To understand the amount of trade that moves on the sea daily, an estimated $3.4 trillion volume of trade which represents 21% of global trade passes through the South China Sea annually. About 80% of the world's maritime oil and 9.84 billion tonnes of cargo pass through the Indian Ocean in a year with over $9 trillion in total trade.
In 2022, the Suez Canal, in Egypt, which is the shortest trade route between Europe and Asia recorded $8 billion in revenue while 20,649 vessels passed through the canal in 2021.
President Tinubu held the bull by the horn with the new Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy. The new ministry will catalyse economic growth and bring a new era of prosperity to Nigeria in the months and years ahead.
It is expected that the ministry will not only help Nigeria tap into the world's multi-billion dollar industry, it seeks to strengthen Africa's largest economy to compete globally.

@spec_temy@PeterObi A good write-up from you. But, my displeasure about all this is that you're asking a man to give what he doesn't have. The fact is that PO is not well prepared to govern this nation. Meanwhile, I beseech you not to bother more abt his followers, cos, they will not hear!
Many have said I have died; others claim I have withdrawn from the presidential campaign.
Well... Nope.
This is the reality: I am strong, I am healthy and I am READY to serve Nigerians from Day One.
