🤔Why does multiple myeloma cause anemia and not pancytopenia?
If the issue is infiltration of the bone marrow with plasma cells, wouldn't all cell lines be low?
Let's have a look.
👥Retrospective cohort study of Kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) with T2DM with 1:1 Propensity Score Matching (PSM) -> 💊GLP-1 RAs vs no-GLP-1 RAs.
📊Primary outcome: all-cause mortality
Secondary outcomes: MACEs and major adverse kidney events (MAKEs).
💥In KTRs with diabetes, GLP-1 RAs were linked to 39% lower mortality and reduced risks of major CV & kidney events. Yet, their use remains low!
A major opportunity to improve outcomes!

👥Systematic meta-analysis of 10 RCTs (>22,000 pts - 51.2% w/T2DM) to determine the impact of SGLT2i in pts w/ recent or previous MI.
🗓️Mean age 62 yrs; median FU was 21 months.
Main findings:
💥HF hospitalization rates were ⬇️in pts on SGLT2i compared with placebo (RR 0.77; 95% CI 0.69, 0.85; p<0.001).
💥These benefits of SGLT2i were consistent regardless of the timing of the last MI.
💥No statistically significant difference in all-cause mortality was observed between the groups (RR 0.88; 95% CI 0.78, 1.00; p=0.058).

🚨 Exciting news! Our meta-analysis on SGLT2i in MI patients has been accepted for publication in Cardiovascular Diabetology!
🔎 Key findings:
✅ SGLT2i reduced MACE events & heart failure hospitalizations
✅ Supports broader use post-MI
