Piping Plover

Ken Porteous, Coordinator, MB PiPl Recovery Program. After 5 years of heartbreak (2011-15) our 2016 renest was a success. We departed with 3 fledglings in Aug.

Received these bad boys for Christmas. I certainly needed them. Love the #pipingplover with chicks and the beach habitat beading. Beautiful craftsmanship. DM me if you would like the details to order your own pair.

I’ve had only one report of a pair of #pipingplover across #Manitoba Unfortunately, upon checking I believe it to be a false alarm. The observer may have confused a sanderling for a piper. With lake water levels reduced good habitat has been exposed but still no piping plovers.

Please keep your cats indoors at all times. Outdoor and feral cats kill billions of birds and other local wildlife every year. https://t.co/pTMNCHI0Vk

Difficult for #pipingplovers to nest successfully around #Manitoba's #greatlakes when there is little beach shoreline to nest on.

3/3 ...give it another go. Thanks to the team that minded things while we took turns incubating & brooding our chicks. A true team effort.

1/3 I'm pleased to report that we nested successfully in #MB for the first time since 2010. We chose some private land this time & it paid..

This kind of stuff breaks my heart. What an ugly death. Someone put this barbed-wire fence up, please take it down.

Appears our #WhitewaterLake #Manitoba #pipingplover was banded in #NorthDakota Even the plovers don't care for #Trump 😂
