Whenever Lavinia wound the heirloom pocket watch, time ticked backwards.
Inside its gilded case a hidden engraving read “Property of the Falling Hour.”
Last week it chimed at 3:17. This morning the chimes sang at 3:09, faster and more frantic.
She tracked the second hand with growing dread as it devoured minutes she had already lived.
Somewhere in the mist-shrouded depths of lost time a door had been left open. Something that should have stayed forgotten was now ticking toward her.
Then the watch fell silent.

Lovely💐
Many current seeds and nursery plants are double-flowered hybrids bred for bigger, showier blooms. They typically produce fewer viable seeds or have reduced self-seeding vigor compared to older open-pollinated or single types. They still self-seed sometimes (for perennial opportunity), but if those returns are less prolifically.
On deer munching issue …
Are there deterrent plants you could plant near petunias?

Two thirds of a drunken star
Hang from the cracked part
Of my broken heart
Strung by moonbeams
Waiting to catch
Like a trapping web
Your driftwood help
Other third to meld me whole
A #falling star
Twinkle twinkled where not meant to go

She resides in the grooves, slipping in and out of the visible realm. There is a pause in the conversation. Unspoken words are floating nearby. She steps sideways, and glides through the hidden door. The brain is shutting down, and colors are #falling asleep.
She sits
Hawthorn hangs heavy
Rain has taken toll.
The weight of it
Petals strewn
Across springs eager
&in that place
Where buds are #falling
She is reminded
Of nature
Of mycorrhiza
Of life,
And it’s Wood Wide Web,
& connections out there,
More precious
Each & every day

At eighty, she still set two cups on the table every morning.
“Habit?” the nurse asked.
She smiled at the empty chair.
“No.”
Outside, a leaf was falling.
“It's how I keep loving someone who never really left.”

I prayed for change
A greening world arose
#Falling within my vision
The mountain stood still
A cinematographer within
Starlight that sunsets my climb
None fought for me
Silent strength rose within
Fate bowed to my steps

the headland holds
my whispered secrets.
it listens.
on occasion, it shudders
either at the horror of my vows
or the concussion
of the waves far below.
shockwaves bring
repercussions -
birds #falling from the sky,
they have forgotten how to fly,
just like me.

Reminiscing
She saw her past
As a garden of flowers
Some days
A blooming #victory
Others battered by storms
She thought of her memories
As bees visiting,
Here then gone
Her mind hovered
Over the present
She’s been stung
But she’s still here
Awake &smelling the Roses

I contemplate
The roses
That decorate
Your pathway
A white corsage
Resting on
An arm that
I would die for
A veil that hides
Forgotten love
Kisses
That belie you
I threw the dice
And gambled poor
Now memory
Bids goodbye dear

Photos from my recent trip to Germany. Quedlinburg is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval towns, situated at the northern edge of the Harz Mountains. It is famous for its cobblestone streets and over 2,000 brightly coloured, half-timbered houses.

Moon looks down in #victory
Weaving celestial charms
Through moonlight and moonbeams
Rendering speechless
Its harem of stars
What hope be for
Us mere mortals
Looking above
Looking for answers
For solace
An age old comfort
The sun can’t win
With its burning eye

Victory vaults o’er venom-veiled valleys,
Frost-forged flame devours the hero’s bright bone,
Gold-gleaming gaze of the grim ghost-giver,
Skalds sing how steel and time both remember the throne.

Cool prompt!
After writing gamble into whimsical Lilliputian tale yesterday and crafting midnight into a surreal morphed grandfather clock…
Yea! Victory prompt is totally going to be fun to chisel into a skaldic-style poem.
I better get cracking’ on that as it has been quite awhile since I’ve written nordic-poetry.

I took a gamble on tomorrow,
placing my last fragment of faith beside the moon & every unfinished prayer.
Morning arrived without promises, yet the roses still opened, the birds still sang
—
& my weary heart finally believed that healing speaks in whispers.
