Considering how much bloat a lot of AAA studios currently include in their games to try to justify $70+ prices, all I see this doing is massively increasing the standard. If a game has a base cost of $100 I'm going to look at everything with a far more critical eye than $60.

@bnuuyes And even now the base rendering of Java is still horrid. The simple fact that a mod exists which improves graphical performance by orders of magnitude tells you it's entirely possible.

It also encourages devs to make the DLC worthwhile. Nobody involved in GOTY is going to care for 5 skins and a battle arena, but something like BL2's Tiny Tina adventure or Elden Ring's Shadow of the ErdTree is a different matter.

@EllipsisGoblins It's typical of people that truly don't understand how close some people live to the edge, through no real choice of their own. Sure, $2 doesn't seem like a big deal, but $2/day is already $60/month. If your margin between net income and fixed costs is $200 or so, thats a lot.
