@paolini Yet. And for all I dislike Apple's overpriced products I hope it stays that way, having Microsoft be the odd one out might cause them to reconsider. Not likely, but one can hope.
Considering how much bloat a lot of AAA studios currently include in their games to try to justify $70+ prices, all I see this doing is massively increasing the standard. If a game has a base cost of $100 I'm going to look at everything with a far more critical eye than $60.
A new report suggests some AAA game studios "hope" Rockstar prices Grand Theft Auto 6 at $100 to set a precedent.
This hike would allow studios to raise their own prices to make up for their shortcomings: https://t.co/bQH6qGr5Qv

@bnuuyes And even now the base rendering of Java is still horrid. The simple fact that a mod exists which improves graphical performance by orders of magnitude tells you it's entirely possible.
That said, Notch hasn't had input on Minecraft for a decade now, so it's not even his anymore.
And yet more privatization of essential government services. I'd like to note that the privatization of the mail in the Netherlands wasn't exactly a solution that helped all that much in the long term, and the railroads are having similar problems as well.
Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky has been cleared to buy Britainβs iconic Royal Mail for $4.5 billion, after his company agreed to retain the Britain headquarters, pay taxes in the UK and even retain the Royal Mail's Crown cypher https://t.co/PWSYaJfGVC
@IHAVEYOUNOWX3@reshetz Not to mention that this is primarily what the US government spent buying stuff from its own arms industry. You could rephrase it as 'stimulated the arms manufacturing industry by 100 billion' as well. So its not like it left the economy.
@GrahamSmith_ I've never understood the way 'honorary degrees' seem to work now. From what I recall, they're supposed to be given out to people that have made a great impact in that field without having actually gotten a formal degree in it the academic way.
BREAKING: Billionaires have raked in $276 BILLION since Trump's reelection.
America's billionaires now hold a record $6.7 TRILLION.
Republicans want to give them a tax handout worth at least $2.7 TRILLION.
This is how you build an economy that only works for the rich.
It also encourages devs to make the DLC worthwhile. Nobody involved in GOTY is going to care for 5 skins and a battle arena, but something like BL2's Tiny Tina adventure or Elden Ring's Shadow of the ErdTree is a different matter.
@EllipsisGoblins It's typical of people that truly don't understand how close some people live to the edge, through no real choice of their own. Sure, $2 doesn't seem like a big deal, but $2/day is already $60/month. If your margin between net income and fixed costs is $200 or so, thats a lot.
Yeah, shit like this is an automatic HARD uninstall for me. A "use external software to purge it from my machine" type uninstall (not that I ever installed this app in the first place)
Microsoft's Bing Wallpaper app got criticized online for its malware-like antics.
The app fiddles with cookies, has a geolocation API, and pushes Microsoft's search engine and browser: https://t.co/LxNmyEBDhe

@Windows How is it that, if I click a link in a device manager subwindow to find out 'why driver signing is important', it just directs me to your support core page (which just so happens to be advertising W11) rather than the relevant page? It must have existed, so why not now?
