I have been mentioning the distinction clearly made between the elect (Israel) and the “you also” (Gentiles)—not only in Ephesians 1, but also in John 17—for some time now. While King James White mocks this as “new,” I first heard it over a quarter of a century ago from Dr. John Brooks who was a Prof at Trinity back in the day. It’s what always haunted my conscience as a Calvie for 25 years. I’m grateful for @DrDavidLAllen pointing this out. Also, per Romans, @jdpritchett @BraxHunter @NickQuient @DPGBehler @leightonflowers and others have recently had some lively conversations on Romans 9 and these topics; available on YouTube.
