Today #Scientissimum would like to show you a very famous #dermatology and #ICU case of severe Stevens–Johnson syndrome (SJS) turned into Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). Right after school Zachary said to his mom that he had itchy feet and eyes caused by poison oak, so his mom applied a soothing cream on his feet to ease the pain. The next day the patient progressed to severe rash that actively progressed. Steven-Johnson syndrome is typically an allergic reaction to certain drugs. Mom was certain that the medicine she gave Zachary a few days earlier to treat his migraine may have caused the illness. Zachary’s skin has started to bubble and peel. 90% of his skin was affected by the disease. His lungs got affected, so doctors had to put him into an induced coma to remove the first laver of dead skin from his body. Then they wrapped him in artificial skin tissue so that his weakened body could form a new skin. No one knew if he would survive. Just one month later, he came out of his coma and his body began to recover very quickly. Miraculously, he is fully healthy again and his body does not appear to have suffered any permanent damage.🙏🙏🙏
