KENYA SELECTED TO HOST ARISS PROGRAM 2026 ! 🇰🇪

We are thrilled to announce that Kenya has been selected to host the next round of the ARISS – Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ISS) program, a global initiative that will give kenyans a rare opportunity to communicate directly with astronauts aboard the ISS.

Kenya is the only African country selected for this prestigious program in the 2026 round, underscoring the nation’s growing leadership in space science and innovation on the continent.

The hosting window is scheduled between July and December 2026, during which Kenyan students, industry professionals and citizens will engage in live radio contact with astronauts, inspiring curiosity in STEM, industry innovation and space science.

In preparation, we will work closely with an assigned Pan-African Citizen Science e-Laboratory @pacselab mentor and Harold Safary, the Agency Liaison, to ensure a successful and impactful contact session.

This marks a powerful milestone for space education in Kenya bringing everyone closer to space and empowering the next generation of explorers and researchers.

📢 An open call will be announced for those who wish to speak directly with astronauts aboard the ISS.

For aeons, I longed to observe such an event.

And yet, I ignored that in each human coupling, a hundred million sperm vie for a single egg. Multiply those odds by countless generations against the unattainable likelihood of your ancestors being alive; meeting, siring this precise son; that exact daughter. Until your mother convenes with a man and out of that union, of the hundred million children competing for fertilization, it was you - only you, that emerged.

You - who are made of particles that have existed since the moment the Universe began, particles that travelled 14 billion years through time and space to distill so specific a form from that chaos of improbability.

Like turning air to gold.

You are a crowning unlikelihood, a thermodynamic miracle.

It is a curious fact that we humans know many more truths than any other animal, but we also believe in much more nonsense.

Rabbits don’t know that E=MC² , that the universe is about 13.8 billion years old and that DNA is made of cytosine, guanine, adenine and thymine. On the other hand, no rabbit would have been willing to crash an aeroplane into the World Trade Center in the hope of being rewarded with 72 virgin rabbits in the afterlife.

How is it that humans are both the smartest yet the most gullible inhabitants of planet Earth?

as a young astronomer, I honestly see myself in the shoes of Eleanor Arroway, the fiercely intelligent and unrelenting protagonist in Carl Sagan’s Contact. Her journey, marked by an insatiable curiosity and unshakable belief in the scientific method, deeply resonates with my own passion for the stars and the unknown. While I didn’t experience the same gender-based obstacles that Eleanor faced navigating a chauvinistic, male-dominated scientific world, I recognize and admire her perseverance and commitment to truth , even when ridiculed. Sagan, through Contact, challenges us to confront some of humanity’s most profound questions: are we alone? Can faith and science coexist? What happens when a single discovery has the potential to shift our entire understanding of the cosmos and of ourselves? The novel is not just science fiction; it’s a philosophical and spiritual exploration of our place in the universe. It reminds us that the pursuit of knowledge, no matter how lonely or uncertain, is a noble endeavor.

Facts:

1. When Daniel Arap Moi was eventually obliged to stand down at the end of 2002 after twenty-four years in power, investigators estimated that he and his cronies had looted as much as $3 billion.

For all of human history, famine was humanity's worst enemy - an unavoidable fate that haunted every generation.

It was not a question of if it would come, but when. Entire populations and civilizations were wiped out by it. In Christian texts, Famine was cast as an unconquerable horseman of the apocalypse. Even our biology bowed to its inevitability, shaping bodies that hoarded fat in periods of plenty to survive the certain seasons of scarcity.

But in just the past few decades, armed with nothing more than science and willpower, humanity defied gods, defied biology, defied fate itself.

Today, for the first time in history, more people are dying from eating too much than from eating too little: overeating is now the leading cause of death worldwide.

Humankind sure is a defiant being, carrying the fire to change destiny itself -

And so do you.
