Hidden in a quiet corner of Delhi lies the resting place of Mirza Abdul Qadir Bedil. Ghalib counted Bedil among the five greatest masters of Persian poetry.
Hamchunān ān muhīt-e bī-sāhil,
Qulzum-e faiz-e Mīrzā Bedil.
Tarz-e Bedil par rekhta likhnā,
Asadullāh Khān qiyāmat hai.
@HamdaniSameer No, he was never jailed. Only Tazkira Aslaaf from his writings remains available today.
Despite their political differences, he always remained closely associated with Maulana Mohammad Hussain Masoodi. He had also composed a Qasida in praise of Sher e Kashmir.
@HamdaniSameer In that era, only 2 poets were renowned for boldly writing against the political leadership of their time:Ghulam Rasool Arif & Prof Saair. One of his satirical verses reads:
Yi kor Gadde Kalan,Te kor Baksh te Mallean,Kaen kar se patte khalan.Yi kor Mir Katev te kor Peer Katov
@HamdaniSameer but he later satirized him as well.
He continued his satirical poetry under Bakshi G. Mohammad & later authored Kaen Nama during G.M. Sadiq's rule. All his poetry was lost during his lifetime after his manuscripts disappeared while relocating.
@Xeyaann @Salar_Kashmiri_ itmi’nan-eqalb the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ appeared to him in a vision, accompanied by the blessed Companions (RA).This took place during a time of widespread fitnah,& thus this tajalli served to strengthen certainty. This incident was later recorded by Allama Khaki in Vird al-Murideen
@Xeyaann @Salar_Kashmiri_ This incident is not related to Allama Khaki (RA); rather, it is attributed to Hz. Sultan Sheikh Hamzah Makhdoom (RA). Although he was a born saint,a man of spiritual rank and firmly established (mustaqeem) upon the beliefs of Ahl al-Sunnah, yet for the sake of inner reassurance
