Our next #WomenInSTEM highlight is Dr. Kellie Jurado @kelliejurado, Presidential Asst. Prof. in @PennMicro. Dr. Jurado’s lab is interested in uncovering immunobiological mechanisms that regulate immune responses in utero through early life. She shares why she enjoys mentoring
Congratulations @BrodskyIgor, Robert R. Marshak Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathobiology, as the recipient of the 2023 Michael P. Nusbaum Graduate Student Mentoring Award.
It’s official: I'm defending my PhD thesis on April 10th at 1:30pm! It's been a long and exciting journey, looking forward to sharing my work and celebrating with you! The defense will be hybrid format, please message me for the link if you’d like to attend virtually.
Huge congrats to co-1st authors DanielSorobetea and @RinaDoesScience@CAMBUpenn on this lovely story out today @NatureMicrobiol in which we uncovered intestinal pyogranulomas forming acutely during Yersinia pseudotb infection! https://t.co/x3D6pswPxy
Who likes IL-18? @aaronmring designer agonists and cytokine biology? Joe Clark @IGAPenn and Orr-El Weizman (Yale) tease apart consequences of IL-18 signals in infection. This is a story that started 1995 when Kurimoto cloned IGIF! @CytokineSociety

Thanks to @brianne_roper & fellow students for organizing this parasitology student & postdoc centered forum for discussion & food & drink. See you there! @pennbgs@pennmpg@pennbpp
To start, I want to share one of the coolest papers to come out in nature in years (I might be biased...) from microbiology student @Brokaryote from @joeyzacks lab! A terrific demonstration of top notch microbial pathogenesis and genomics research at Penn 🎉
Really excited to share our labs first paper published today in @Nature. This work was led by the amazingly talented @Brokaryote, who found that enterococci enhance C. diff fitness and pathogenesis by metabolically remodeling the gut during infection. https://t.co/PGtmQIb8GX
Hello! This is my (our?) first tweet! Have a cool paper that you found? Want us to feature your lab or project or talk? We want to share all of the awesome happenings at Penn for microbiologists!! Please DM us and we're happy to share!
