GPDP should be longterm in nature (ideally 5 years), which can be implemented on annual basis, based on priorities arrived at Gram Sabha. Panchayat & its committee play a very important role from initiating the plan to its completion & then focus on implementation and monitoring.

GPDP is prepared through a participatory process involving all stakeholders matching people’s needs and priorities with available resources. It is the development plan of the Gram Panchayats. it does three essential things:
