@BBCPallab@spacegovuk@SciTechgovuk Agree, the UK space agency was put in place after the government of the day realised the size and the impact of the UK space industry on the UK economy and how important it was. So this is a backward step for a still growing sector of industry, which is also globally growing.
@engineers_feed Novels I am happy to use ebooks, non fiction paper. With non fiction I want to flip back to check I understand a point then back forward and continue reading.
@BBCAmos I think the problem here is that success is not guaranteed. Success is a goal that has to be worked towards. Guarenteed success does attract funding, but Musk has a dream and is working towards it. More correctly Musk supplies the funding and encourages the team to innovate.
@datawithmohit@engineers_feed The lower gravity would mean less pressure on the ice, hence less slippery as pressure on the ice turns it back into water. All that assumes the ice is water ice! With all the other considerations , whatever they could be would this water ice behave the same way?
@britishbee Why did they post a picture of the Polistinae (paper wasp), rather than our normal common wasp (AKA ‘yellow jacket’? Just to be ‘eye candy’. Yes I am a beekeeper and yes I approve of wasps, except when they try to enter the hive. Reliable information on wasps on the internet. Pah!
@The_Apiarist Excellent post. The piece I took away from that particular post, is that three days ago after carrying out an artificial swarm, it swarmed. Reason, yes I life an heir and spare queen cells, with a very large colony.
@AlfieCoates@forthrighter I have never seen it, but if pushed to answer I would say about the same as being a member of a golf club, or any other type of club. I am in Portsmouth BTW, Mason for 11 years
@engineers_feed Oddly there is more in the hard vacuum of space than people realise. Apart from the beta and alpha particles, we only found out 10 years ago:heavy ions. These would cause failures in our power transistors, if they hit the gate structures, in our equipments on payloads on Geo sats
@UGLE_GrandLodge@OrderWomen@_HFAF_@RestIsPolitics could you justify the article in the New European “Forget the Garrick, what about the Freemasons?” Sadly an article poorly researched based on the usual biased gossip. 10 mins on the internet would correct these errors.
The United Grand Lodge of England, @OrderWomen & @_HFAF_ have issued a joint statement in response to an article published in The New European.

@primaryshooter@engineers_feed SpaceX approach to their rocket design/development far exceeds all other space design work. Traditional space/ satellite development is such a slow plodding approach where it has to be proved/or tried and tested before we can even start a project. I admire SpaceX approach
