@ringostarrmusic Dearest Charlie. My wife, daughter and I saw you ROCKING PHILADELPHIA in 2019!! We will never forget the happiness your drums brought us. It was a dream come true. In my mind you are playing Paint It Black right now. We will always love you.
NEW: I’m proposing the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution to help end our nation’s gun violence crisis.
The American people are sick of Congress’ inaction.
The 28th will enshrine 4 widely supported gun safety freedoms -- while leaving the 2nd Amendment intact:
1) Raising the minimum age to purchase a gun to 21
2) Universal background checks
3) A reasonable waiting period for gun purchases
4) Banning the civilian purchase of assault weapons
We can’t stop talking about Ginni Thomas.
The wife of a Supreme Court Justice plotted to overthrow our government.
She has not yet faced a single consequence for that & her “best friend” of a hubby is still able to rule on trump related cases.
This is not normal and it is not ok.
The violent news from Colorado Springs is sickening and heartbreaking - the more so because there is a pattern.
We can not, will not, allow hate to win. We must end this in our time. No rest until all of us, including all of us in the LGBTQ+ community, can be, and feel, safe.
November has a couple of important space birthdays. Both fellow astronaut and space pioneer Alan Shepard and astronomer Edwin Hubble were born in Nov (18th & 20th respectively). Keeping history alive and remembering their contributions, allows us to move forward more confidently
In a time when hate speech is on the rise and we are seeing nearly daily mass shootings driven by that vitriol, one of the largest social media platforms in the world has given free reign to the most racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic xenophobes on Earth.
And it is not ok.
We must address the public health epidemic of gun violence in all forms. I signed the most significant gun safety law in nearly three decades, but we must do more.
And we must drive out the inequities that contribute to violence against LGBTQI+ people. We cannot tolerate hate.
Jill and I are praying for the families of the five people killed in Colorado Springs, and for those injured in this senseless attack.
While no motive in this attack is yet clear, we know that gun violence has a particular impact on LGBTQI+ communities across our nation.
