@ItalyinLDN That’s not helpful for the person who might be in an abusive relationship and this process adds complexity. Also why should the issuing of a passport have anything to do with the relationship between two adults and their family situation. @italianialondra

@ItalyinLDN I need to renew my passport, why does my husband (British)need to “approve” my application just because we have children together? Seems medieval and far too patriarchal for 21st century?

@ItalyinLDN Understood, But what if it isn’t a good relationship, why does the partner have the right to prevent someone from getting a passport? Surely the passport is the individual’s right and should not be dependant on the consent of a partner?
