It's nice to move away from the laptop and get into a separate zone so you aren't tempted to start writing code when you're reading the docs. Just read them.

We've been using a tablet so it's more like a book and we turn on the red light setting if contrast allows. Very nice.

@SlackHQ We haven't found any clever workarounds. The little reminder of "Something happened somewhere but we're not telling you what it is - so, you'll have to stop everything you're doing and check" - is relentless.

On the phone, most of the time we can't see the workspace icon at all. We spend a lot of time trying to figure out where we are. We'll probably just stop using the mobile app. We don't ever remember being frustrated about anything with it before.

Here's a screenshot. We know something happened in one of the 10 workspaces. But we have to stop what we're doing and then go find out. Is it the boss? Is it an answer to a question in a software forum? Is it a student? Is it a reply? Is it urgent? There's no way to know unless we stop what we're doing and click this for the surprise.

@affinitybyserif - is there any chance you'll be printing more Publisher Workbooks? It looks like there are no English printings left for under $200. We even bought one and it came in the mail and was in German. We'd love to have one - and so would our students! : )

@SlackHQ This shortcut is good to know. But the problem is that it says "something somewhere happened," and instead of being able to immediately see it, we now have to manually check to see what and where it might be - which breaks our focus (the opposite of the goal with this redesign)

@daboigbae As programmers? The right one. So much easier!

As users? Either is fine. But the left one is much more likely to be broken and glitchy.

So, as cool as the left one is (in theory) - right one is a winner.

@SlackHQ - Is there a way to change the settings and opt out of the new condensed sidebar? It's not helping us "focus" - it's just hiding the information we want to see. We have 8 workspaces, and we want to see all of them simultaneously.

And we'll assume that this is learning not just to land a quick job - but for solid foundation for a career...

Definitely building projects. But having an actual plan, accountability, and consistent personal guidance is going to really tie the room together.
