@ChrisMartzWX Yes, Northern VA is waaay too crowded. The suburbs have sprawled west to where 18-wheeler trucks roar up I-81, and the sprawl will cross WVa, then Ky, MO, KS, eventually San Diego, Jakarta, Hong Kong, then the moon. Do they have climate change on the moon? (Asking for a friend.)

@HoplitaPluma @ChrisMartzWX If I recall correctly, there were only a tiny number of tree rings used. But for a global phenomenon, hundreds of tree rings from widely scattered regions are needed to serve as proxies for global climate change. A statistical sample needs to be large enough.

@ChrisMartzWX Thank you for the detailed post. Decades ago I read the efforts to blame the Dust Bowl entirely on Midwest over-tilling, even though 1930s heat waves hit the East Coast too, and rain doesn’t stop falling because of tilling. (Though no-till farming can be a good idea.)

@BjornLomborg We cannot deal with the real costs by glossing over them with averages and generalities about benefits—unequally distributed benefits. Poverty rates around 35% in many older U.S. cities are a partial consequence. Long-term real-wage stagnation is a partial consequence. Etc.

@JavierBlas @opinion Talk of US getting control of Greenland partly for its minerals is thoughtless. US mining companies operate around the world. They are welcomed, pay taxes or royalties, and it's done. US doesn't need to own Greenland for our mining companies to work there.

@ryanweather Have you read/written about ocean fertilization as a technique for removing CO2 from the atmosphere? It was a subject of interest and research roughly 1995-2010 (uncertain memory here). Some tests seemed to work well, some didn't.

@TomKloza Hasn't Trump already tried to take credit for the lower gasoline prices? And some GOP members of Congress have endorsed that? The increase in output from OPEC+ of course has nothing to do with it, surely not, how is that even possible....
