Congratulations to the bravest nation in the world.
You have defied all odds and set a powerful example of resilience, humanity and solidarity for entire generations.
Your courage and determination will be remembered for centuries to come.
I bow my head in awe.
A point of utter embarrassment and shame for many Iranians is the manner in which elements of the diaspora danced on the streets in Western capitals as bombs rained on Tehran. It is also a source for a lot of anger among Iranians in Iran who oppose the theocracy but nevertheless did not favor war and who are stunned to see some in the Diaspora being so indifferent to the suffering caused by the war.
But there is another aspect that deserves closer scrutiny.
These, almost exclusively pro-Shah elements of the Diaspora, did not dance to celebrate the downfall of the regime. They didn't dance because they had won.
They simply danced because the war had started, nothing more.
As if their goal was neither freedom nor democracy, but simply revenge and the pleasure they took from seeing Iran bombed.
Had they danced after the theocracy had fallen (which it hasn't), it would be a bit different. It would be a moment where they could argue that the price was very high, but because the regime is defeated, it was worth it, and, as a result, a cause for celebration.
But they didn't wait for the regime to fall. They danced right away.
Signalling that the cost was worth it, EVEN IF the regime didn't fall. Because it was always about selfish revenge, not freedom.
One of the many tragedies of this war is that before the war began the U.S. Intel Community, including CIA, was in agreement that Iran wasn't developing a nuclear weapon & that Iran would target U.S. bases in the region & shut down the Strait of Hormuz if they were attacked by Israel & the U.S.
The IC also properly assessed that targeting the Iranian leadership would strengthen the regime and embolden the hardliners.
Despite the professionalism & accuracy of the IC, the narrative & agenda spun by a foreign government- Israel, won the argument & forced us into this war.
We need to understand exactly how this happened to ensure we are never put in this position again.
Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
This takes courage…
The Strokes closed their Coachella set flashing images of the governments the CIA has overthrown, the leaders the US has assassinated including MLK 👀, the war crimes the US is committing in Iran, and the genocide Israel is committing in occupied Palestine.
This video is both heartbreaking and life-inspiring.
A film crew tries to film the destruction caused by US/Israeli bombing at an apartment complex in Iran. One of the tenants, an old man whose apartment has been almost completely shattered, insists on inviting the film crew in and offering them something to eat.
"We have only come to film, we don't want anything," the crew says.
But the old man insists on at least offering them oranges and apples.
Ultimately, those who come out victorious from conflicts are those who retain their dignity. Who never let war make them lose their humanity and self-respect.
Who, even in the worst of situations, insist on upholding sacred traditions and beliefs, including that of hospitality.
That's what makes a civilization indestructible.
Please remember this video and do your best to forget the videos of the lost souls dancing and cheering on the streets when their countrymen, women, and children were being killed by "democracy and freedom" bombs.
Anybody the least little bit curious why Marco Rubio, the actual fucking United States Secretary of State, is at a UFC fight tonight instead of being involved in Iran cease-fire talks? Or is it just me?
Pahlavi is such a shameless liar, he literally described Israeli and US military action against Iran as "the cavalry coming", and actively lobbied in favor of it:
A coffee shop in Tehran,
the first day of the ceasefire.
Iran will find its own path if the US gives up its ambition of looting the oil of Iran under the narrative of emancipating Iranian women, with bombs.
This video of Israel soldiers casually throwing what appears to be a Palestinian youth off from the roof of a building has shocked the world.
Look how comfortable they walk away after throwing the youth to his death.
As if they have done it 100s of times before.
Absurd and inhuman violence is spreading ferociously through the sacred places of the Christian East, profaned by the blasphemy of war and the brutality of business, with no regard for people’s lives, which are considered at most collateral damage of self-interest. But no gain can be worth the life of the weakest, children, or families. No cause can justify the shedding of innocent blood.
