Bengaluru parents are asking the Karnataka government for a small change in Class 1 admission rules.

Right now, a child must be 6 years old to join Class 1 in 2026–27.

Many kids are missing the cut-off by just 1–3 months.

Parents are requesting a 90-day relaxation because:

• These children already completed Nursery, LKG and UKG
• Most were part of the COVID batch
• Without relaxation, they may have to repeat UKG

Parents say repeating one year will cause stress and extra fees.

The government says the 6-year rule is important for maturity and is linked to the new education policy.

As of now, no relaxation has been announced.

A parent says, "It is not a protest but a request to the govt to promote children who have completed three years of pre-primary education to Class 1. Our children are not meeting the 6-year age cut-off under the NEP. For children, repeating a class will cause psychological stress. The institutions are open to it and don't want children to repeat, but we are waiting for the govt to give relaxation in the rule or expedite SEP implementation."

We have got assurance from the CM and the Deputy CM. As parents, we want the best for our children. Making such policies not only limits its mental growth but also affects his/her future.

Government relaxed the age limit for class 1 admission for 25-26 academic year but what about next year. My child short fall the age criteria by 12 days and there are many who may shortfall by just 1 day. Should we plan our baby as per government education norms.

@TheOfficialSBI I don't know how many times I have to post on twitter to get my things resolved as your SBI RACPC Basavanagudi branch does not respond to any of my emails on time and also they do not attend my calls. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any bank.

@TheOfficialSBI Your home loan branch RACPC Bangalore seriously need some good officials as they never respond to my queries on time. This time again I have made a disbursement request and trying to follow with Mr. Krishna Kishore but i am getting no reply.
