Turkey is being looted. subjugated and depoliticized, with fake nationalism and Islam used as anesthesia.

The same, with slight variations, is happening to India, Indonesia, Egypt and Pakistan (Malaysia has made slightly better choices): these countries serve as the the brown buffer zone around the white colonial structure.

I love Turkey, it is fantastic, fascinating, rich and immensely beautiful, but standing firmly with the Global South is its only path to relevance and living up to its potential.

The promise of 'dignity for prosperity' ('agree to be a slave and we'll give you Netflix') has always been a lie. What happens is you always inevitably lose both
