What’s the bare minimum number of qualified nurses (x) and healthcare assistants (x) on an AMU. I guess 1.6 nurse/patient ratio plus at the same for healthcare assistants? Is this near the mark? In reality what’s the required number to provide good quality basic care needs?

Yet anothter dread filled days beckons! Only systemic change can return dignity to so many people unable to receive a basic level of care. I'm only moved to write this, not as a polemic, but because of powerlessness and disgust.

Horror in the NHS.
This is not about staff who are being wonderful, delightful human beings; it's seeing the appalling state that people are left in AMUs, well the one in Norwich. People left soiled, wearing the same night dresses, barely fed, although kept hydrated.

It is heartbreaking. I'm at a loss as how to proceed. I expect my family will have to go and help my mum to eat, dress, change her incontinence pads.... the list carries on. Each family fighting for their own family member to be barely adequately cared for.
