This Australian's reply to Trump's rant about “NATO not being there for America” is perfect.
"Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.
You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail.
Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates.
Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you.
And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again.
And you're calling Greenland poorly run?
Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.
'NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years.
And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess.
So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. The only thing poorly run in this picture is your f----- mouth."
Very well stated.
Bernie Sanders just asked the question that ends the entire jobs debate.
He meant it as a warning.
It’s the best news humans have gotten in a hundred years.
Sanders: “If we’re not paying taxes because we don’t have jobs, how does that impact government services?”
Wrong question.
Once machines build the houses, grow the food, and generate the power, you tax the machines. Billions of them, producing more wealth than any workforce in history ever did.
Sanders: “Deep down, we all want to contribute, whether we’re a janitor or a brain surgeon. Oh, guess what? In X number of years, you don’t have to work. What are you going to do?”
He answered his own question in the same breath he asked it. He just didn’t notice.
Parents raise kids for free. Volunteers coach little league for free. Builders give away tools used by millions for free.
Contribution never came with a paycheck attached. Take away the wage and it doesn’t disappear. It gets honest.
Sanders: “If somebody tells me that right now, some guy is doing a job with a lot of danger or drudgery, and we can shorten that work week, is that a bad thing?”
Shortening a bad job still leaves a bad job.
Deleting it doesn’t.
No one should spend another decade doing work a machine already does safer and faster.
Sanders: “We are looking at a revolutionary technology. We are not prepared to deal with it. I am not seeing any serious discussion about this.”
Nobody was prepared for electricity either. Or the airplane. Or the internet showing up in every pocket on Earth.
Readiness was never the requirement. Humans adapt afterward. Every time.
Bernie asked the scariest question he could think of. What are you going to do without a job forcing your hand?
Here’s the answer.
Whatever you actually wanted to do, before rent and groceries told you no.
That’s not the end of purpose.
That’s the first time you get to choose it.
The problem with Jeff Bezos' ideology is that it's based on a false premise. The idea that "six thousand years ago someone invented the plow" is based on a faulty belief that ancient humans functioned as individuals. They did not.
Ancient humans were collectivist. The likelihood that one individual invented anything is slim to none.
This is the myth of the genius.
Archeological evidence demonstrates that for hundreds of thousands of years, early humans congregated around communal gathering places, like the fire, and engaged in problem solving and passing on of shared learning down through generations.
Additionally, the plow (and tools like it) were developed by humans in Mesopotamia, Europe, Egypt, East Asia, sub-Saharan Africa as well as other places - not in one place by one person. This is known as parallel development.
Believing that the plow was invented by one genius is like believing language was invented by one person. It is a silly myth and represents the projection of current moral standards onto past events.
This is called 'presentism' and it is both an uncritical and ignorant way to view history.
Social learning was the main driver of human evolution. Collectivism is how we both survived and progressed as a species.
The myth of the genius is an example of uncritical analysis and a flawed lens used to justify the grotesque hoarding of wealth and obscene inequality that is currently tearing at the social fabric our species.
It needs to be thrown on the trash heap of history.
A Christianity that refuses to call out corruption and lies from those in power because it believes it is politically advantageous not to do so becomes a complicit participant in the very evils it claims to be against.
It is a Christianity without Christ.

Mitch McConnell just said the quiet part out loud on Greenland:
We already have everything we need.
Greenland already cooperates.
Our Arctic access already exists.
What Trump is proposing isn’t strategy, it’s burning allied trust for nothing.
“Incinerating the hard-won trust of loyal allies” is not strength. It’s self-sabotage.
❗️Senator Tillis: «Greenland once had 17 of our military bases, and they wouldn’t mind if we came back. This can be done without any seizure of a NATO country. And I challenge Trump: find me even one respectable general with stars on his shoulders who would say this is a good idea.»
@elonmusk@CommunityNotes@grok I see way too much content on here daily that is obviously false that dont Get community noted. Misinformation is everywere, Even on X.
