To,
Shri Rajnath Singh ji
Hon’ble Minister of Defence
Government of India
South Block, New Delhi – 110011
Subject: Posthumous Honour for Captain Manjinder Singh Bhinder – A True Hero of the Nation
Respected Sir,
I write to you with deep respect and a sense of patriotic duty to appeal for the posthumous recognition of an extraordinary officer of the Indian Army — Captain Manjinder Singh Bhinder, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on 13th June 1997, exactly 28 years ago.
Captain Bhinder, a Cavalry officer of 14 (Scinde) Horse, was tragically martyred while leading a rescue operation during a fire that broke out at the Green Park Uphaar Cinema in Delhi. Without a moment’s hesitation, this braveheart risked and ultimately gave his life in a valiant attempt to save others. Alongside him, his young wife and unborn child also perished — a sacrifice that goes beyond comprehension and stands as a testament to the spirit of selfless service and courage that defines the Indian Army.
Captain Bhinder was a gifted equestrian, a dedicated officer, and a son of the soil who was admired by his peers, seniors, and the community alike. His story of gallantry has inspired generations, and yet, remains formally unrecognised in the annals of our national honours.
Sir, it is never too late to honour bravery. A grateful nation must acknowledge the heroism of those who put the lives of others before their own, especially when such acts are carried out far beyond the call of duty.
In light of his extraordinary courage and selfless sacrifice, we humbly request the Ministry of Defence to consider awarding a suitable posthumous gallantry award to Captain Manjinder Singh Bhinder, so that his memory may be formally enshrined in our nation’s history, and his family may draw strength and solace from this long-overdue recognition.
Thank you for your attention to this deeply heartfelt appeal.
Yours faithfully,
Brig HPS Bedi, VSM

May 1841 — The Himalayas witnessed one of history’s fiercest military marches. ⚔️🏔️
General Zorawar Singh led Jammu and Kashmir State Forces of 10,000 Dogra, Ladakhi & Balti warriors deep into Western Tibet, capturing forts from Rutog to Taklakot and reaching the sacred Mansarovar.
Fighting brutal cold, thin air & extended supply lines, the campaign became a timeless saga of courage, endurance and mountain warfare.

@virsanghvi Very well said.
If there’s anything that’s to done away with, it’s the perks & privileges of our fat-cat politicians.
Substitute bungalows by 3-bedroom flats; just one hired car; one PA, one peon; no extra allowances; one pension irrespective of terms served; no canteen, etc.
@virsanghvi Please don’t drag veterans into this for your PR stunts. Veterans and serving army officers have their own legitimate DSOIs. Never ever mention veterans and civil servants in the same breath.
Illogical comparison.
For all the outrage about Delhi Gymkhana being exclusive - Breach Candy Club is worse. On Government land, but till date only Europeans or European passport holders can be in the trust/management IIRC. IN 2026. It’s wild
Most people demanding the closure of the Gymkhana Club seem angry about being denied entry. It is a private club. Having known it well since I was a child it puzzles me that it suddenly became a ‘national security threat’.
Sharp Edge: I don’t like Raj era clubs and I will never become a member of one. So whatever happens to the Delhi Gym makes no difference to my life.
And yes it may be unfair to charge only a nominal rent to a club that mostly caters to
retired army officers & civil servants
But if you are talking about unfairness why stop at veterans? Why not throw ministers out of their huge houses? Why not take away their motorcades? Ground their private planes?
Today’s Lutyens elite comprises politicians who have run Lutyens Delhi for a decade and live in those huge Lutyens bungalows. Why pamper the new Lutyens elite and persecute soldiers who
have fought for our country and bureaucrats who gave their lives for India ?
Don’t swallow the propaganda & the lies. Don’t let political dadagiri extend to attacking veterans and retired civil servants while politicians live off honest tax payers

Stop throwing a fit. Delhi Gymkhana is a private club. No one’s taking away your membership of it. Just that, leave aside valid security concerns, taxpayers are no longer willing to subsidise to the tune of thousands of crores, your stale cutlets and evening swims.
My views:
By all means run a bulldozer over Delhi Gymkhana. But don’t give the bullshit of exclusivity or privilege or tax payer money. If thats the standard we are living by then shut down Constitution Club; demolish the CSOI where govt land was given at throw away price to babus; shut down DSOI; take back all newspaper properties on BSZ Marg; Take back all lands given to NGOs which are profit centres; demolish IIC and Habitat Centre; stop subsidised food in parliament. MPs get paid so why should their food be subsidised? if they cant afford it, step down from parliament and do something that pays you enough. Shut down the Air Force and Army Golf Clubs, Santushti Centre, Race Club, and the Delhi Flying Club where no one flies anything. The DGC is being targeted because someone has an axe to grind and didnt get membership. Now its being made an elite vs non-elite fight which it isn't. But since we all want to play Bolshevik commies or are inspired by CCP and Khmer Rouge to demolish everything nice, decent, genteel, lets do a comprehensive job of it. Make it all a animal shelter which would warm the cockles of Pol Pot's heart. But please don’t give the BS of security because that is total hogwash. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

General @KatochPrakash has written a sharp piece on denying NFU to the armed forces. Our saga of exploiting soldiers politically and them abandoning them on fundamentals continues https://t.co/f0SrXcPbgu
Attended the ZF Strategic Supplier Meet in Pune. ZF is expanding its India play by targeting domestic OEMs as customers and boosting sourcing from Indian suppliers for both local and export programs. Clear signal: India is now central to ZF’s global strategy.
Battle over NFU- a long fight by our Armed Forces for equity so that the same policy that raises pay scales in other services without a promotion applies to the military. Why is Media Ignoring this? Our show with @Vedmalik1@Warrior_Mukul@Sood_2 - In full https://t.co/Mow7AraxVC
SHAMEFUL CONDUCT BY DELHI POLICE
Last night (11 April), at around 10:00 PM, a serving Brigadier’s family encountered two individuals consuming alcohol inside their car (Regn No. DL3CCY 0789) near their residence in Vasant Enclave.
Upon objecting to this act of illegal public drinking, the situation escalated. The individuals called for additional support, and soon 7–8 more men arrived in multiple vehicles. These men proceeded to assault the Brigadier’s son, causing significant injuries, and also manhandled the Brigadier himself.
Despite a call to the Police Helpline (112) and a PCR vehicle (ZBR39A, Mobile No. 9311923339) being dispatched to the spot, no effective action was taken by the police personnel present. The assault occurred in full view of the PCR van, yet no intervention was made.
Following the incident, the family approached Vasant Vihar Police Station to lodge an FIR. However, their complaint was not registered, and they were also denied immediate medical assistance. Eventually, the injured were taken to the Military Hospital for treatment.
A written complaint has since been submitted, but the lack of timely police action—both at the scene and at the police station—raises serious concerns.
This incident demands urgent attention and accountability. Strict action must be taken against those involved in illegal public drinking, organized assault, and the apparent negligence of duty by the police personnel present.
