A little late for the book launch, but the copies of my book have finally arrived. 10 years in the making (with all sorts of digressions along the way)!
My last PHD dissertation defense at Harvard, and it was a great one! My Azerbaijani student Sama Mammadova gave us a history of consumer banking from the Renaissance to the 18th c. Next time you go to your local bank, remember that we owe the practice of lending to the poor and less well off to the Franciscans. It was first advocated by the Observant Franciscans of 15th c. Italy, who talked Pope Leo X (a Medici!) in 1515 into authorizing the practice of allowing interest to be charged on loans -- under the guidance of canon law of course (which established a principle for deciding on a just interest rate). So forget the old 'Weber thesis'-- this was 2 years before the outbreak of the Protestant Reformation! @ufhamilton@LawLiberty@PostlibOrder
Algernon Sidney referencing Qing China in a manuscript uncovered from the sands of time. It is quite something to be the first person, in all likelihood, to seriously read this writing in over three centuries (I have already composed a full translation into Sidneian English.)

Had a lovely discussion with Jacke on The History of Literature podcast, about my book and the therapeutic qualities of Sterne’s writings. Humbled to appear on the podcast alongside many far more distinguished guests. (Haven’t yet brought myself to listen back to my own voice!)
I’ve always wanted to publish a manifesto of sorts, and this time it’s a scholarly one on the importance of producing, studying, and reading multiple translations.

Warning to all book authors: the 'book club' invitation scam is the new elaborate version of the prince of Nigeria scheme. I just got one too.
