The Dalemain Marmalade Festival is a great contributor to international understanding. The winner of this year's new Marmalade for the King class came from W. Australia and the mayor of Yawatahama signed a licence for a Japanese festival. It also raises thousands for Hospices.
Congratulations to First Milk who have completed a £20m investment in their cheese factory at Aspatria producing great cheddar from Cumbrian milk. Over 10% is exported all over the world.
The Keswick to Barrow Walk provides a fantastic fundraising opportunity for local charities. This year a massive £323881 was raised and last night awards were made to the most successful walkers and the benefitting charities. Congratulations to all.
The new workshops at the Energy Coast UTC were opened today. A fantastic addition to their facilities. The UTC already provides a topclass technical education to young in West Cumbria with 90% of students going on to apprenticeships and now they will be able to do even more.
The magnificent new playground at Ford Park @Ulverston was opened on Saturday. A great addition to the facilities at Ford Park which provides activities for all ages.
The Remembrance Day Service at the Cumberland and Westmorland Memorial in the fine setting of Rickerby Park Carlisle has become increasingly well attended in recent years.

Wednesday evening was V special; I spent the evening at Windsor Castle at an event hosted the Prince of Wales. In 2020, we were lucky enough to win a Queen’s Award for Enterprise and this was the royal celebration for the winners. An inspirational evening never to be forgotten..!

On Monday I was delighted to visit the Vision Support Centre in Barrow-in-Furness alongside the High Sheriff of Cumbria @hscumbria – it was wonderful to find out more about all the fantastic work the charity does to support visually impaired people who live in the local area.
