This was a memorable trip yesterday to the site of Igbo Landing on St. Simons Island, GA, with my good friends the American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID).
Thank you for allowing me to be part of this experience.
God bless you.
Your Bible doesn't tell you to fight sexual immorality.
It tells you to flee.
Run.
Not stand your ground.
Not manage it.
Not keep getting as close to the line as possible.
Not install another accountability app and white-knuckle through another Tuesday night.
Flee.
«“Flee sexual immorality.” — 1 Corinthians 6:18»
Why does God tell you to flee?
Because sometimes victory doesn't look like standing there proving how strong you are.
It looks like getting out.
Look at Samson.
He could kill a lion with his bare hands. He tore down city gates. He killed a thousand men with the jawbone of a donkey.
But he couldn't say no to Delilah.
The strongest man in Israel allowed himself to be compromised, and eventually he was blinded, chained, and grinding grain in prison.
Look at David.
He killed Goliath. He wrote many of the Psalms. God called him a man after His own heart.
But David saw Bathsheba and refused to look away.
One decision led to another. Adultery. Deception. Murder. And eventually, the death of his child.
Look at Solomon.
God gave him extraordinary wisdom.
Yet Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines, and his wives turned his heart toward other gods.
The strongest fell.
The wisest fell.
The man after God's own heart fell.
So don't become arrogant about your ability to resist temptation.
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” — 1 Corinthians 10:12
You're not stronger than Samson.
You're not wiser than Solomon.
And you are not so spiritually mature that you cannot fall.
Don't flirt with what God told you to flee.
Don't keep visiting places that weaken your convictions.
Don't keep entertaining conversations that feed your lust.
Don't keep watching what you know you shouldn't watch.
Don't keep putting yourself in situations where you already know how the story ends.
Stop fighting what God told you to flee.
Run.
Run from sexual immorality.
Run from pornography.
Run from compromising relationships.
Run from secret conversations.
Run from the private habits nobody knows about.
You don't have to prove how strong you are.
Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is get up and leave.
FLEE.
PRAYERS TO BREAK GENERATIONAL CURSES
1. Father, by the authority in the name of Jesus, I declare an end to every negative pattern that has passed from one generation to another in my family. Every cycle that has continued for years, let it be broken by the power of God, in Jesus’ name.
2. Every inherited pattern of failure, stagnation, repeated disappointment, and limitation operating in my family line, I command you to lose your influence over my life. I step into the liberty and purpose God has ordained for me, in Jesus’ name.
3. By the blood of Jesus, I renounce every ungodly covenant, agreement, dedication, and spiritual claim that has been made contrary to God's purpose for my life. Let every such claim be rendered powerless, in Jesus’ name.
4. Every recurring pattern of hardship and closed doors that has followed my family from generation to generation, I declare that it ends with me. I receive grace to walk in a new dimension of favour, progress, and divine purpose, in Jesus’ name.
5. Father, let the power of every negative inheritance be broken over my life. Whatever I did not establish and whatever is contrary to Your will, I refuse to carry it forward. I belong completely to Christ, in Jesus’ name.
6. Every pattern of destruction, repeated setbacks, and untimely loss associated with my family history, I declare that it will not continue through me. Let the mercy of God speak over my life and establish a new testimony, in Jesus’ name.
7. I break every cycle of poverty, limitation, and persistent lack that has hindered progress in my family. I receive wisdom, favour, diligence, opportunities, and the grace to build a better future, in Jesus’ name.
8. Every pattern of broken relationships, constant conflict, division, and bitterness passed through generations, I declare that its influence ends with me. Let peace, wisdom, forgiveness, and healthy relationships become established in my life, in Jesus’ name.
9. Father, expose and uproot every hidden pattern working against my progress. Let every spiritual, emotional, and behavioural cycle that is contrary to Your will lose its power over me, and give me grace to walk in freedom, in Jesus’ name.
10. I declare that my family history will not determine my destiny. The mistakes, failures, limitations, and struggles of previous generations will not imprison my future. By God's grace, I am entering a new chapter, in Jesus’ name.
11. Every voice speaking limitation over my life because of my family background, be silenced. I reject every negative label and every expectation of failure, and I receive the identity, purpose, and future God has prepared for me, in Jesus’ name.
12. Father, give me wisdom to recognize every unhealthy pattern that must end with me. Give me courage to make different choices, discipline to build differently, and grace to establish a godly legacy for the generations after me, in Jesus’ name.
13. Every cycle of stagnation that repeatedly pushes my family backward whenever progress begins, I declare that the cycle is broken. I receive grace for sustainable progress, stability, wisdom, and advancement, in Jesus’ name.
14. I declare that no negative pattern from my past, my family history, or previous generations has authority over my future. I am redeemed through Christ, I belong to God, and I will walk in the freedom and purpose He has given me, in Jesus’ name.
15. Father, let Your power establish a complete separation between me and every ungodly pattern that has followed my family. From this day forward, let my life testify of restoration, freedom, favour, progress, and divine purpose. Let the story change through me, and let my generation experience the goodness of God, in Jesus’ name.
