@washingtonpost Hope ABC gives Carr an opportunity to reply to its editorial. Think it’s the first they broadcast in decades. Back in the 1970s their radio and tv stations did them regularly( some daily. ). All that before Snow White awoke, or became Wake
Well said. But recall that Merrick Garland is the creature and puppet of his old mentor and teacher at Harvard Law School, Laurence Tribe. Recall also how Tribe used an op ed in The Times to pressure Garland into indicting Trump for taking top secret documents to Mara Lago . Tribe also taught Jamie Raskin and others he mentored to lead the last Trump impeachment drive. The puppet master and man behind the curtain was Tribe
@brianstelter The difference: Cronkite really sailed or navigated whhile his professions captain was at the helm. With Pelley, this appears to be another photo op, to see what it would look like on tv to appear steadfast and steady at thd helm for the camera’s eye.
@mtomasky Journalism history? Dan Rsther killed 60 Minutes , as George Clooney proved with his stage/film myopic biopics of Murrow, Rather at al. . Does Clooney really care about Pelley. Not even Paley. And that’s the way it is.
60 Miutes survived the ouster of Dan Rather over his role in using forged documents in an episode about George Bush’s alleged sweetheart deal service in the Texas Air Guard So Pelly can only blame himsel for his self aggrandizing departure. He painted himself in to this corner with an exit sign flashing above. Pity his agent who has mouths to feed.
@tomfriedman Crow eating, says Friedman of Trump. So it’s okay with him that Iran keeps on making nuclear weapons anytime they like. What is Friedman swallowing.
‘Let’s hear it from NBC; They hired her to fill in for Rachel Maddow…. 60 Minutes’ journalist says CBS contract ended after furor over delayed segment https://t.co/S3MhdbTo9q
@TheLeadCNN Jake says it’s all a joke: How would he laugh 😂 at his wife being belittled by Kimmel who described the First Lady as having “ a glow like an expectant widow”. , Or maybe Jake would praise the “expectant widow” line as he did —as funny and admirable free speech!
No wonder Iran’s only card left is Democrats like Murphy who pledge to shut off America’s capacity to wage war on a terror state bent on destroying the US and Israel and Lebanon and Gaza land now other Arab oil states and then strike European capitals. Useful idiots. Murphy and his leftist ilk
Equal time — also known as a rule— is also law, passed by Congress in 1934. The law is aimed at discouraging broadcasters—tv and radio stations— from offering candidates they like with free time on air during campaigns. If they do so, they are obligated to provide opponents the same time to reach a comparably sized audience reached by the favored candidate. It is a not partisan rule to censor or require a broadcaster to self censor. It is not, as Stelter alleges, government censorship.
Though politically and ideologically far left, Anderson Cooper was a penetrating and provocative interviewer who asked thoughtful questions in a uniquely sensitive way. He was an asset and will be missed. Too bad he couldn’t see that Weiss wanted to use his great strengths as an interviewer of celebrities, statesman and yes, politicians. Nonetheless, 60 Minutes will be worth watching again. When Weiss is finished cleaning house
@JonathanTurley Economic freedom of the sort that Adam Smith celebrated didn’t relate to the sources of wealth Virginia’s founding fathers cherished: freedom to flourish from the labor and monetary value of bondsmen in chains
Local news used to be important, but especially to advertisers whose spending made newspapers profitable. Pulitzer Prizes are lovely but don’t pay the bills. As any Amazon owner could tell you, newspapers even online cant match the ability of online ads to reach consumers at the the point of purchase( proceed to checkout) The rest of your tribute to the Post is blather.
