No excuse for the @VictoriaAtkins and @RishiSunak not to come to the table and negotiate.

3 billion pounds already wasted on sustaining strike action, when full pay restoration in 1 go would have cost just £1bn.

Why can doctors (not on the speciality register) not be either dual registered or just pick up PA jobs; full time or Locum.

A medical degree takes 5 years, of which 3 years are full-time patient contact.

Yet a PA does a 2 year degree - & incredibly, some of their courses are online only, with only 4 weeks per year seeing patients.

Sound safe?

No.

Because it isn't.

To me, it sounds terrifying.

The reality is that 70% of the NHS staff will probably use private healthcare for themselves and their loved ones by 2034

Standards have been decimated in the NHS - simply due to political and corporate intent.

Sadly the workforce plan is a key driver of this. PAs are not a solution to the problem.

Heartbreaking to witness this in the UK

The table above shows that there are now 4 times as many doctors applying for every medical specialty training post as there were in 2015.

Yet the UK is short of >9k doctors.

So how can this possibly be explained, short of wilful destruction of the NHS?

Both F1s (docs) and PAs now have GMC licences.
PA can see undifferentiated patients in GP/A&E and do clinics - all of which is too dangerous/unsafe for the doctor to do until years of training. Plus PA is paid 15k more.

Doctors are just calling for some level of equality.
