@DKThomp@jonlovett@ZohranKMamdani Manifesto. 1. With power comes responsibility. 2.Our collective responsibility is expressed through governance. 3. Governance is expressed through "public" goods- schools, parks, tranport..and yes public safety. 4. I love all things "public" and thus fight to make them BETTER.
@HistoryBoomer Hopefully they went Dutch on dinner! Seriously, while these nutlingers exist, I think our discourse is improved by grounding it in more tangible things like legislation introduced, passed, major politicians advocating for it… and I’ve seen very little of that.
@kausmickey Investigative journalists did the hard work and exposed Armstrong. Nothing is stopping right wing journalists from doing the same in LA, save their laziness and lack of skill in this area.
@shelley_alt@gummibear737 I’d go back a bit further. There was a lot of sacrifice and bloodshed during the Vietnam war. But whose values were we defending? But I still see a lot of honorable culture, sacrifice, and cohesion in local communities.
@evanwch I see your point, thank you. The flag might be for everyone, but the people who wrap themselves in it are not looking out for everyone. The best way to love America is not to salute a flag (but fine if you do) but rather to get out there and work to make the country better.
@KerrickSus64561@Rasmussen_Poll Maybe. But thinking of all of the camera – loving Congress people, I think they would want to scream this from the rooftops. No investigations, not even any talk of them. Occam’s razor says there’s nothing here.
@Schickrateez@Rasmussen_Poll I see a lot of the stuff online about stolen elections. Pleanty of conspiracy stuff on the left too. But no Congressional hearings into the election! Why not bring the full force of our gov's investigative powers to get to the bottom of it? Are you demanding that?
@PeterAPatriot@JDVance Yes. And Vance‘s quote should actually be “Trump won so YOU (MLB) CAN’T do this anymore.” it must be hard for him to swallow that the president doesn’t run the culture.
@brianeskow A just society requires some kind of safety net for, at a minimum, poor old people and children. This safety net can be paid for by (1) the government prints money, a bad idea, or (2) taxing wealthier people and thus redistributing wealth. So, yes.
@LJS527@KenGardner11 Agree. The distinction we should make is between wealth and political power. Make all the money you want, but we should not allow that money to completely warp “One citizen one vote”. Remember the giving pledge? We need these rich guys to agree 10 years of no political donations.
