@RuthlessRuth15 This was impressive work Ruth! We chose the BioRxiv version for a journal club in my upper level micro course last fall, and students had lots of great thoughts and discussion!
Wrapping up summer research with these 3 outstanding students. I’m so proud of what these three have accomplished this summer, and am excited for them to share their work in the future!
Not that I’m super active here (more of a lurker than an active poster), but recent changes call for bluer skies and greener pastures. You can find me @blakedpetersen.bsky.social if you’d like to connect!
Several years ago, I wrote a 2-page guide on how to give a killer narratively-driven scientific talk. I called it "The David Attenborough Method", in homage to the master storyteller. https://t.co/fROAFOYNBM
I recently expanded upon it in a short essay: https://t.co/vh4Jt0g1PP
@YouTooBio Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I'm curious about your exams and revisions (hoping to try myself!). Would you be willing to share an example of a take-home exam or the question format? And how do you grade revisions (full-credit/half-credit/etc.?)
Trying to plan a way to show my UG students real scientific research talks before they present their own senior capstone... without $$ to bring in outside speakers. Anyone willing to send recorded talks!?! #PUI#scienceeducation#chemistry#biochemistry#sciencetwitter
As a new chemistry faculty member at a teaching institution (PUI), are there any grants I can apply for to help pay for student research projects (small scale) and equipment for teaching and research? #AcademicChatter#grantwriting#Science
If you love science and art (who doesn’t?), consider checking out this awesome Kickstarter about anti microbial resistance! We need more science art in this world
We are live!!
Resist NOW will be a science fiction comic about antimicrobial resistance made by 7 different science artists who work together with awesome scientists to highlight their research!

@markowenmartin It may not be official recognition, but I certainly appreciate your Sci + Art efforts and successes from afar! It’s something I’m inspired by and aspire to do after graduating!
Very happy to present an awesome collab with @papenfortlab @manzilllla and several undergrad and grad students, led by @petersenblaked and Chelsea Simpson.
@meghanrussell99 If you haven’t yet, the documentary “13th” on Netflix is a really sobering but enlightening watch about that oppression that is still going on today
@manzilllla I haven’t been as productive as I would be on campus/in lab. So I’ve been doing small chunks of work and focusing on the high priority work. And then celebrating little victories 😊
Excited to share my first pre-print as a graduate student! We compared our lab type strain and a natural V. campbellii isolate and found surprising variation. Glad to have worked alongside our lab manager Chelsea and all our collaborators (including several undergrads!)
Vibrio campbellii DS40M4 is a tractable model strain that diverges from the canonical quorum-sensing regulatory circuit in vibrios https://t.co/7PMFYrEuQ1 #biorxiv_micrbio
