Leggo che alcuni esponenti dell’opposizione mi chiedono di prendere le distanze da un video realizzato con l’intelligenza artificiale, diffuso da un altro partito di opposizione, nel quale sono stata inserita a mia insaputa.

Lo faccio senza alcuna esitazione. Quel video non appartiene al mio modo di essere, né al mio modo di intendere il confronto politico. Ho sempre pensato che la politica debba misurarsi con le idee, con il consenso e con il voto dei cittadini, mai con l’intimidazione, con l’odio o con la rappresentazione violenta dell’avversario.

Proprio per questo, però, mi aspetto la stessa chiarezza da chi oggi mi rivolge questo appello.

Mi aspetto che gli stessi esponenti della sinistra trovino il coraggio di prendere le distanze quando un assessore del Partito Democratico arriva a evocare i fucili contro gli avversari politici. Mi aspetto la stessa fermezza quando autorevoli rappresentanti istituzionali della sinistra, davanti a vicende ancora al vaglio della magistratura, scelgono di alimentare un clima di contrapposizione che finisce per delegittimare le Forze dell’Ordine e offrire il pretesto a chi trasforma le piazze in luoghi di violenza.

La condanna delle parole d’odio, di ogni incitamento alla violenza e di ogni forma di intimidazione politica non può valere solo quando è utile alla polemica del momento. Deve valere sempre. Senza eccezioni. Senza doppi standard.

Considero da sempre la violenza, in qualsiasi forma si manifesti, una dimostrazione di debolezza e di insicurezza. Chi è davvero forte non ha bisogno di ostentarlo. È una convinzione che non cambierò mai.

Per questo continuerò a respingere ogni forma di odio e di violenza, a difendere il confronto civile e a rispettare il lavoro di chi serve lo Stato, anche quando significa assumersi la responsabilità di esporsi in prima persona.

Mi auguro che tutti abbiano lo stesso coraggio.

Lindsey Graham's final phone call is being revealed, as he dialed one senator's staffer in desperate need of help.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville is sharing new details about Sen. Lindsey Graham's final moments, revealing Graham called his scheduler after returning from an overseas trip and said, "Listen, I'm having chest pains. I need to do something."

When asked, "Did you call 911?" Graham replied, "No, that's the reason I called you." Tuberville said the scheduler immediately called 911, and "by the time she got there, 911 had knocked the door down, and they were working on him."

Tuberville said, "Lindsey basically worked himself to death," noting Graham rarely took time off and was always traveling to "work out something for our country."

Axios also reported Graham delayed seeking medical attention before his scheduled appearance on Meet the Press, saying, "I can't die now. I still need to do the Russia sanctions, get Iran sorted out and do Israeli-Saudi normalization."

He was a pleasure to cover. His questioning at hearings was always sharp (and entertaining). He would always stop if you needed a quote. He invited me on a CODEL to the 2019 Munich Security Conference. Behind the scenes, he was gracious and down-to-earth. Regardless of what you think of him politically, he was a kind person and had a huge impact in the Senate and on foreign policy.

Lindsey devoted his life to serving our country with conviction, courage, and an unwavering sense of duty. But, importantly, the man behind the public figure was deeply devoted to his family, a kind and generous friend and blessed with a great sense of humor, punctuated by a sharp wit.

Lindsey Graham was barely into his twenties when he lost both his parents. In the middle of college, he became the one raising his sister, Darline.

Whatever you thought of his politics, he carried a weight most people never have to carry. And it made him a fighter.

Please keep his sister in your prayers as she grieves the brother she once called "kind of like a brother, a father, and a mother rolled into one."

The South Carolina Republican was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002, won reelection three times and had been seeking a fifth Senate term after winning the Republican primary last month.
