We are organising Peabody and Family Mosaic tenants and residents to defend social housing and demand that the Housing Association improves the way it treats us
UK politics funded by billionaires, mega-donations surge as the rich buy power.
£179m donated by wealthy individuals since 2019.
A cap at £100,000 or £500,000 won't do. Only the rich can buy.
Can't end political corruption without ending donations.

@AngelaRayner and this out of touch government will not listen!
The new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) rules make it even harder for communities to object to unsustainable development…..every common sense reason for refusal no longer apply in the same way…what’s worse the new rules apply immediately even to applications already under consideration, meaning communities hard work campaigns are now pointless.

Your regular reminder that there are more than 1,000 empty council homes on the Aylesbury Estate and @Miatsf sails on serenely as it were nothing to do with her.👇🏽
Today MPs will debate a petition of more than 200,000 signatures on holding a referendum to nationalise the water industry.
"Every year since privatisation has been another year of evidence to show that the industry has become a simple cash extraction tool," @WindrushWasp founder Ash Smith tells @BBCr4today.
What is keeping privatised water alive?
Myths, lies, and a series of governments who hid the truth, but now it is out.
For 37 years, governments have presented billpayers as captive prey to the scam of the century.
Now it is time to end it
There is no chance of 1.5m homes being built in 2024-29 - as that would hit the premium price builders can charge for them.
Yet the Government's target has gone up to 1.85m.
Vast nos. of planning consents will be granted in unsustainable places, however.

Joining Isaac Rose of the great @gmtenantsunion for a (free) event in Manchester on the evening of October 13, where we'll be chatting about how both cities became unaffordable places of the last few decades and what we can do about it:

"Public ownership of water industry could save £22billion, MPs are told."
Oh look, you were lied to, nationalising the water industry isn't going to cost you billions, it could in fact save you £22 billion.
Who'd have guessed it.

SHAC in the Morning Star - Plans for first-ever housing union to be launched at TUC Congress
https://t.co/CDUogT6GSB
Thank you @M_Star_Online for covering our project to get a National Housing Union for all tenants and residents off the ground. The response @The_TUC has been fantastic.
We're ready for the next phase!
#NationalHousingUnion
I was delighted to speak at the launch of the wider conversation/consultation yesterday at @The_TUC Congress on setting up a housing union.
The document launched by @ActionShac is the result of months of detailed work by RAs, tenants' groups and relevant unions - and is an excellent piece of work as a starting point (available on their website).
Really hope they can work collectively to reach the goal of our first and much needed union for all aspects of housing.
An awesome start. Will support you all the way.
Follow @ActionShac for more.
It's a shame that @mtpennycook has been left in place as Housing Minister - he won't meet with those experiencing or campaigning on the housing emergency, but always has time for the developers and landlords who've helped cause the crisis. He opposes rent controls, which Burnham is talking about introducing. Joined up govt?
Small waters, including ponds and small lakes, are the unsung heavy hitters of biodiversity.
But despite their critical importance, small waters are excluded from proper monitoring and management by the Government.
I have signed @CHinchliffMP's letter, calling on the Government to recognise the value of small waters by bringing them into the Water Framework Directive.
This reform would allow the Government to bring clean water back to England’s landscapes and begin reversing the long decline of our freshwater wildlife.
Andy Burnham was right at the Makerfield by-election when he said there was an "overwhelming case for public ownership" of Thames Water
The public will never forgive a failure to deliver on this
