@ForInnovative@JoanIfland There is a list of Unprocessed Foods at https://t.co/RMLCEDaP2l. Processing makes edible plants addictive by concentrating their natural endorphins. Processes that concentrate are removing fiber, cooking down, distilling, extracting, powdering, crystallizing, liquefying, etc.
@Resko1999@JoanIfland It takes a high level of support over a long period of time, possibly years. It's a severe addiction. It's sad to see people throw puny weight-loss programs at it over and over again.
@michaelwoodhci@JoanIfland I think in general, hidden processed food addiction drives the failure. Processed food addiction is a complex, severe, and extensive problem. It takes a conscientious effort over long periods of time to get under control.
@michaelwoodhci@JoanIfland It's a severe addiction. Really severe. I do offer new approaches to putting the addiction into remission at https://t.co/aAUDbL1pfb.
@michaelwoodhci@JoanIfland RIGHT! This is a battlefield that you can walk off at any time. Battlefields include highly engineered food environments and frankly, most of mainstream media. Get processed foods out of your home and car. Hang out in nature among clean-eaters to make things easier.
@ManiMalagon@JoanIfland@ketomecarbohol1 @dracarolinalc @ahhite For many food addicts, taking the first bite of a processed food triggers full-blown addiction. Get in a support group that avoids the first bite to keep yourself feeling secure and content.
@BrianLenzkes@JoanIfland@BiggestComeback@lowcarbusa Thank you Brian! It is so empowering to have Rob Cywes as a fellow educator in processed food addiction. Compassion and awareness are the ways to end suffering.
@BiggestComeback@JoanIfland@lowcarbusa Thank you for the kind words. The processed food addiction model really helps break through a lot of confusion about how diet-related diseases became the leading cause of preventable death.
@michaelwoodhci@JoanIfland Totally. The Keto Plan is a good plan for food addiction. As a practitioner, if you would like to screen for processed food addiction, I can send you a printable self-quiz that you can give to patients. It's the 11 DSM 5 Diagnostic Criteria for Alcoholism, adapted to eating.
