This year, I ditched chalk-and-talk and tried distributing "fill in the blank" versions of my slides and lecture notes in advance of class. Vaguely, I feel like this is more accessible and promotes students learning.
Is there any literature on this?

The end of term vibe.
"Just in general, is there anyway for future times you teach MATB42 to just go over basics before you mention something new? A lot of students are finding this course cumbersome simply because the teaching in lectures is virtually irrelevant to exams."
Halp!
During office hours yesterday, I had a student that was frightened and unwilling to write down a 3x3 matrix to check if it was an example of something. They wrote down one entry and froze. Coaching and "let's just try something out" didn't help.
What would you do?
