People forget that the operative principal for a lot of City departments (here and probably everywhere) is that you can only get fired for allowing something new and having it go wrong. There's almost no career risk if you just delay, study, and task force new ideas to death.
Coming soon to a (United Airlines) A321 near you: Starlink!
I just approved the STC for Starlink installations on our rapidly growing A321 fleet. It feels great to think about the many thousands of people that will enjoy this amazingly fast, game-changing free service. Thanks to the great teams at UAL Engineering, UAL Tech Ops, SpaceX, Aeromech, and STS for delivering a flawless system.
Have you experienced Starlink yet in the friendly skies?
some context on the labor peace: Mayor Lori Lightfoot oversaw three CTU work stoppages, AFSCME strike threat and FOP standoff over vaccines. And she presided over multiple credit rating upgrades, including two one-notch upgrades to the city's GO debt https://t.co/0LjEz6T2mR
Client's kids are 28, 31, and 34.
She's sitting on $3.2M. Wants to leave it all when she dies.
I asked: "What will they need money for at 58, 61, and 64?"
Their mortgages will be paid. Kids will be grown. Retirement accounts funded.
Meanwhile, right now:
One is drowning in student loans
One can't afford a house in this market
One is planning a wedding on a shoestring budget
$50K today changes their lives. $50K at 60? It's a rounding error.
She's giving $30K to each this year. Watching them use it.
Die with your memories, not your money.
I regret to share that Carrie from the City Hall / County Building Snack Shop family has passed away. She kept some of us going on machine coffee and sammiches down there for many years. May her memory be a blessing.
I can’t begin to explain how horrible this is. Again, this was for AA/AAA-rated secured debt. When the city sells its unsecured general obligation bonds it risks paying a 175-225 bp premium to AAA benchmark in terms of interest costs. Could mean 6% + debt for 20-30 year bonds.
Why is Chicago's budget bloated?
One reason:
The city has thousands of job vacancies that receive city funding.
That means taxpayers pay for empty positions that lead to massive overtime costs.

Begging anybody else to create the Macy’s windows on State for Christmas. The wrapping paper border cutting out most of the window space and the half-assed displays are a sham. Hire art students or even CPS students. Give me a pound of Mod Podge and some glitter! Anything else!
What about a partnership, an illiquid investment, a non public investment, who will be the arbiter. This will cost more to implement than revenue produced
@StuLoren this is among the dumbest sections of legislation I've ever read.
"price at which the asset would change hands b/w willing buyer and seller..."
htf are you supposed to know that without, you know, actually having a transaction?

@royalpratt Shohei Ohtani is one of the finest athletes we’ll ever see in any sport—with Jordan, Federer, Gretzky, Woods, Babe Ruth, Bo Jackson and a few others.
Lincoln Square resident Michael Sheets asks:
Can construction companies block the street with cones without a posted permit?
This company working on my neighbors house has cones in the street 24/7 for the last week and nothing is posted from the city.
I need a place to park...
