EXTEND THE TAX AUDIT DUE DATE TO 31ST OCTOBER — PERMANENTLY
THIS IS NOT JUST A PROFESSIONAL DEMAND. IT IS A PUBLIC-INTEREST ISSUE.
A Tax Audit is not merely the filing of Form 3CD. It involves examination of books and records, reconciliation, verification of supporting documents, tax analysis, documentation and professional judgement.
The quality of this process directly affects the accuracy of tax reporting and the integrity of the compliance system.
WHY IS AN EXTENSION NEEDED?
🔹 QUALITY TAKES TIME
A thorough audit cannot be reduced to a race against the clock.
🔹 MULTIPLE COMPLIANCES CREATE PRESSURE
Several important statutory compliances compete for professional attention around the same period.
🔹 EVERY DAY OF DELAY COMPROMISES QUALITY
As the deadline approaches, every day without clarity means less time for verification, reconciliation and meaningful professional review.
🔹 EXCESSIVE PRESSURE AFFECTS PROFESSIONALS
Continuous late-night working and prolonged deadline pressure can adversely affect the health and well-being of Chartered Accountants and their teams.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER TO THE PUBLIC?
Better Audit → More Accurate Reporting → Better Compliance → Stronger Tax Administration
Adequate time can help reduce inadvertent errors and omissions, improve the quality of reporting, strengthen taxpayer confidence and contribute to a more reliable compliance environment.
THE OBJECTIVE SHOULD BE QUALITY COMPLIANCE — NOT JUST DEADLINE COMPLIANCE.
A permanent extension to 31st October would provide a more practical and predictable compliance calendar.
This is not about less accountability.
It is about better accountability through better-quality audits.
OUR HUMBLE REQUEST
🙏 Extend the Tax Audit Due Date to 31st October — PERMANENTLY.
📢 Let us raise our collective voice for:
TIME FOR QUALITY.
TIME FOR ACCURACY.
TIME FOR BETTER COMPLIANCE.
EVERY DAY MATTERS.
EVERY AUDIT MATTERS.
QUALITY MATTERS.

25+ eminent professional bodies have represented before @FinMinIndia@IncomeTaxIndia seeking rationalisation of Tax Audit due dates, for the current as well as future years!!
Gap of 30 days after non-audit ITR deadline is simply too short for quality Tax Audits involving detailed verification, reconciliations & professional responsibility.
During the same month, professionals are also required to handle several other statutory compliances. Pressure is even greater in Tier-2 /Tier-3 cities, where firms generally do not have entirely separate teams/professionals for ITRs,Tax Audits and other compliances @theicai

Tax Audit Due Date Should Be Extended.
Since 1961, there has traditionally been a reasonable gap between the ITR Due Date and Tax Audit Report (TAR) Due Date.
This gap is not merely a matter of convenience.
It gives tax professionals adequate time to conduct audits properly, verify financial records, identify discrepancies and ensure accurate and quality reporting.
Compressing this timeline puts unnecessary pressure on both taxpayers and professionals and may ultimately affect the quality of compliance.
Dear @nsitharaman@IncomeTaxIndia
Please consider this genuine and practical demand of the tax professional community and extend the Tax Audit Report due date.
Thank You.

Story by @EconomicTimes on GST Portal issues on the GSTR-3B due date!!
Thanks for raising the genuine concerns of taxpayers & professionals. Story includes my post on X along with posts from other professionals/associations

In my entire professional life as a CA I have never seen such consistent failure of a statutory compliance portal.
Hours of productive time wasted.
Repeated disruptions.
And ultimately mental harassment of taxpayers and professionals.
Perhaps it’s time to seriously examine accountability even through a PIL…

Wondering why @theicai and Elected CCM are not raising issues about the non-working GST site today on the due date?
Ideally, it's their job to communicate with the government.
What do you think?
Portal is either not loading properly or getting logged out as per sample screenshot attached in almost all taxpayers, so provide proper working portal as today is last date for GSTR3B of March 26 @Infosys_GSTN@GST_Council@FinMinIndia
