The European Citizens' Initiative titled "Justice for Palestine" has currently gathered roughly 900,000 signatures in its campaign to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

The initiative confirms that the European Union should halt this agreement based on Article 2, which mandates respect for human rights, citing ongoing Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

They have a ritual called the Pledge of Allegiance.

They make children recite it.

Every morning. In school. Standing, hand over heart, facing the flag.

One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

They start doing this when children are five years old. Before children can read. Before children can form political opinions. Before children have any framework for evaluating what they are pledging or to whom or why.

They are trained in devotion before they are capable of skepticism.

And then, twenty years later, when someone presents them with evidence that the nation they pledged themselves to at five years old has committed systematic atrocities across the world, people are surprised that rational argument doesn't land cleanly.

You are not arguing with an adult's political opinions.

You are arguing with something that was installed before the adult existed.

This is not an accident.

A population capable of genuine critical thought about its own government's actions is a population that is harder to send to war.

Harder to tax for military budgets.

Harder to keep quiet when the next intervention begins.

So they start early.

Every morning. Hand over heart.

Before the questions can form.

Polls show that in many European countries citizens now see China as a closer ally than the US which is increasingly viewed as a threat.

I literally had to go see this for myself. Sure enough. Apple Maps has removed almost every town in Lebanon from the map while keeping every podunk town in Israel and Syria clearly marked.

En Estados Unidos se están enfrentando a un problema que dice mucho de su sistema.

Miles de jóvenes, especialmente de barrios pobres, se están organizando en masa para “invadir” espacios públicos de la capital en lo que las autoridades llaman “teen takeovers”, como si reunirse en la calle fuera un delito.

Y para el capitalismo americano, básicamente lo es. Washington D.C. vive bajo un toque de queda juvenil constante: actualmente es ilegal que grupos de más de 8 menores se reúnan en determinadas zonas a partir de las 8 de la tarde.

¿El origen del problema? Décadas de abandono institucional, privatización del espacio público y ausencia de ocio asequible en los barrios más pobres de la ciudad.

El capitalismo ha construido estadios de béisbol de 900 millones de dólares en Navy Yard, pero no ha sido capaz de darle a sus jóvenes un parque donde estar sin que los detengan.

¿Y cuál es la respuesta de esos jóvenes? Ir en masa, durante un corto periodo de tiempo, a generar disturbios en las zonas más ricas de la ciudad.

Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.
You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail.
Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates.
Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you.
And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again.
And you're calling Greenland poorly run?
Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.
"NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years.
And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess.
