Electrolytes is bare minimum in any run/race around the world!
@NBOcitymarathon the support yesterday was a disgrace! Why such mediocrity? @athletics_kenya Do better!
WTF are you even talking about?
How can you not be in awe of someone who pushes not only their own personal limits to the max, but also pushes the limits of humanity as a whole?
Striving to do something immensely hard and previously thought to be impossible.
Going where no one has gone before.
Enduring the training, the sacrifices, and then the dark pain cave of actually performing at this level.
Itโs the Sebastian Sawes of the world who inspire the rest of us to push harder and go further.
I for one and absolutely amazed and in awe.
Reminder that Sabastian Sawe's sponsor adidas spent $50,000 for him to be drug-tested out of competition as much as possible in 2025 and are doing the same thing in 2026.
Today in London, he became the first man to break 2:00 in an official marathon.

Community Health Promoters (CHPs) like Mildred Akumu play a critical role in the fight against #malaria in Kenya. They educate families on preventive measures such as using treated mosquito nets, indoor residual spraying, and draining stagnant water to protect themselves. They manage uncomplicated malaria cases at the household level and refer severe cases for urgent care at health facilities. This reduces pressure on existing health facilities. Pregnant women and young children remain the most vulnerable.

It's #WorldMalariaDay2026: Malaria remains a significant public health threat in Kenya, despite ongoing progress in prevention, testing, and treatment. In the past year, Kenya reported over 3.1 million confirmed cases, with nearly one million detected at the community level, demonstrating improved service reach. Testing coverage is strong, with 89.3% of suspected cases tested, yet the overall disease burden remains high. Malaria incidence declined from 104 cases per 1,000 people in 2023 to 72 per 1,000 in 2025, marking important progress. However, transmission persists in many areas, highlighting the need to intensify efforts. Pregnant women and children under five remain especially vulnerable, as malaria can quickly become severe and life-threatening in these groups.

Next week in Nairobi, leaders will meet to discuss climate resilience, SRHR, and menstrual health. We do not lack commitments. We lack alignment.
Climate, health, and gender are still funded and delivered in silos, yet communities experience them as one reality. That is where the real work is.

How do #livelihoods shape health outcomes?
Stable #livelihoods support access to essential services and improve health outcomes. Economic shocks can reduce access, increasing health risks and deepening vulnerability.
Evidence shows a 10% increase in household income can reduce #childmortality by up to 2% Strengthening livelihoods is strengthening health.

A song can save a life. A mural in your community can be the reason someone finally seeks #TB testing.
In Kenya, music and art are doing what pamphlets canโt, breaking stigma, cutting through fear, and delivering life-saving information to everyone who needs it. Know the signs: a persistent cough, fever, night sweats, unexplained weight loss. If you notice them, act fast and seek care immediately.

Ending #FGM in Kenya is a collective responsibility. The Maasai Elders Declaration against FGM is timely and represents a historic moment, as respected leaders step forward to protect the rights, dignity, and health of girls. When elders speak, communities pay attention, and by working together, we can move closer to a future where girls are safe from harm. #ENDFGM #AmrefEndFGM
