Stan Weinstein ends his great book with the following, regarding stage 4s:
"Promise yourself that you absolutely will never again buy a stock in Stage 4 no matter how exciting the story. Also swear that you'll never hold onto a declining Stage 4 stock no matter what rumors come your way."
By following this one simple rule, you can avoid huge drawdowns to your capital.
Direct investment in stocks works only when you have -
Passion for research.
Time for analysis.
Have the mindset of continuous learning.
Otherwise go with mutual funds. Even picking the right mutual funds is difficult, simply go with index fund.
🚨 Many people have asked me for Mark Minervini’s strategy in Pine Script.
Mark Minervini reportedly achieved an extraordinary 33,554% return in 5 years, using a disciplined momentum-based approach.

There are 2 ways of creating a business :
- Building capabilities first and sticky profits in the long term thereafter. (Ex. Laurus, Neuland etc.)
- Focusing on numbers first (in short term) without much of capabilities.
Indian entrepreneurs often prefer the 2nd route and the reason is mindset.
In India, valuations are subject to growth in numbers (short term) and not growth in capabilities (which gives results in the long term).
This mindset needs to change and we should value companies/entrepreneurs more on the capabilities rather than numbers alone!
If the business grows but working capital requirements grow even faster, growth may consume cash rather than generate cash.
Inventory ↑↑ → Cash Conversion Cycle ↑↑ → Working Capital ↑↑ → ROCE ↓
