𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. I touched grass, rock, wind, water, plant, dirt, and light. The season is changing here in California. Sweater weather some say, fire place or candle cozy is valid too. The valve above is opened, the rain is released to dampen us all. At night, indoors, and working late; a flame, a beverage, and music provide the correct ambiance to make.

𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁. Is standard. Actual behind the scenes. Sites and stray thoughts from a travelling filmmaker which remind you that preparation is critical to make things happen. Many moving pieces, a budget that's well thought out, but any mishap could create chaos, yet the calm sensation that you've done your due diligence and are aware that short of the world imploding you have the freedom and focus to do your best work. Unsure how managing all the variables became somewhat zen-like, but it has become second nature with the primary function of creating and executing at a high level. Anyways, Wednesday it is then.

𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗦𝟰 𝗙𝗙/𝗶 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱. Big shoes to fill, but worthwhile on every level. Cooke's Super 35 S4 primes are legendary and a personal favorite. These are Cooke's modern take of what the S4 look would be on Full Frame 135 and VistaVision formats.

Quick details. 18, 25, 35, 50, 75, and 100mm primes to start, /i of course, linear T2-16 nine bladed iris, 270 degree focus rotation, 87mm OD, minimal focus breathing, and an emphasis on close focus in their design. Size is medium compact and suitable for handheld at 4lbs or less per lens. Available in PL and LPL mounts.

Some familiar concepts here that make them equally suitable for smaller formats as the S35 S4 primes were T2 (except the 300mm at T2.8) and also featured these focal lengths.

Very interesting coatings and general design here. I'll be testing them thoroughly as soon as time permits. A good start with the focal lengths. Hoping for at least two or three longer primes to flesh things out.

@MKBHD I mean, parking could be wild. Been a minute since I've needed to jump a gorge with anything that features tires, but some bridges get congested I guess. Certain city and state level legislation is already freaking out. Top speed is already not street legal in some areas.

𝗗𝗼𝘁. Looks small from here. It's spooky, hot, gigantic. and weighs 2 nonillion kilograms. Just enough for us to enjoy dancing and spinning right round baby right round it. Perhaps the scariest thing is the plasma blasts via Coronal Mass Ejections. Yet, those can produce wonderful auroras for us to enjoy here on our rock. Interesting interaction between two magnetic poles far apart from each other there. Anyways, happy Wednesday. It is now candle weather here, and thus inspired post about the big candle.

While observing the universe, @NASAHubble caught a galaxy cluster smiling for the camera. 😊

The smile lines are arcs caused by an effect known as gravitational lensing, where massive structures warp spacetime with their powerful gravitational forces and act as a cosmic lens.

T𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁. Of hard rock above a calm sea.

Side note. When studying under @glennvilppu some years ago, one of the drawing excersizes he deployed was posing flour sacks. Filled up a few sketchbooks of just flour sacks living bizarre lives, bouncing around, doing their thing. This was particularly useful to help keep gestures dynamic with a sense of weight and gravity as well as convey motion and life into inanimate things.

And literally everytime I see Sea Lions all I see is flour sacks with tails, fins, and snouts. And on the inverse, when I see a flour sack, I am disappointed by the lack of those features.

Busy day incoming, but this will be me later. Have a relaxing weekend flour sacks.

Behind the overgrowth was a dwelling, all boards, no windows, perhaps a barn, strange roof line either way, but also a Jeep Wagoneer that hasn't escaped the confines of that driveway in some time, yet immaculate condition as if not touched-yet-loved. Knock for candy? Perhaps another time.

@quirkdup Tricky balance out here because SoCal is big. I like the ocean a small trip away personally, but beach life is neato if you can live with what's not nearby. Not that your asking, but my strategy has been: Neighborhood first, then proximity to things you want to do semi-often.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿. Has mostly been exceptionally kind to me. These were photographed during a bizarre evening where visibility was very low in Los Angeles. Damp and dark, it was a very quiet and still night.

The majority of people stayed off the road and it was late. But, there were several car accidents and emergency services had to drive at a slower pace to even attend to those safely.

I was exploring the night for a while. By vehicle and by foot as the eerieness attracted me for a couple hours. It felt like every street was a whole unusual story being played out before my eyes, which only made me more curious as to what the next had to reveal. Occasional silhouttes barely emeging to added to the oddity of it all. A dance of me freezing in place until I discerned if it was of concern or part of the normality of the weirdness. And then the sounds.

Strange. Some natural ambiance. Sometimes hints of a late night creature nearby, I hoped. Also, odd loudness followed by nothing. But the rare crackle of electricity vaporizing the mist around me is what stayed with me the most from this night. I've experienced similar, but not as loud nor as close as this presented.
