@pedrouid I agree speed matters and upgrades are too slow historically. 2 per year was a good start but we’re now right back at 1 yearly. There needs to be more timeline-pressure here.
@VitalikButerin Now for the key question: how fast can we make all of this happen? I think not setting hard-dates is a mistake. Speed matters and timeline-pressure is necessary for speedier delivery.
@binji_x@materkel@jbaylina Last vid I saw had them launching test net in the fall but yeah accelerating this would awesome we all want this sooner than later
5/ Not all blockchains meet this test. OpenZeppelin identified key differences between Ethereum and other layer-one blockchains in its recently published Technical Risk Assessment on Blockchain Networks report.
Some highlights:
1/ Today, the Global Policy Strategy (GPS) team is publishing Ethereum Basics for Governments and Institutions, a non-technical primer to equip the leaders making policy and deployment decisions with an understanding of how Ethereum works, how it's governed, and how it compares with perceived alternatives.
@lopp I find your takes so balanced and refreshing. The kind of 0.1% content that makes it valuable to be on x & learn. Thanks for remaining so balanced when most in this space have lost their heads.
@DefiIgnas What we actually need is truly decentralized stables (i.e. a new Dai) to win. The spirit of this whole movement isn’t giving the legacy players another outlet to increase margins- it’s a new (and better) system.
@wminshew I’d like to hear that each and every person at @ethlabs_org and @ethereumfndn is an individual power user of ETH apps, L2’s etc. It’s not clear to me they are- no clue. Being an end user first and foremost is the greatest data-point on UX one can have.
@casparschwa@protolambda@ethlabs_org Thought on faster upgrades = back to pressuring for 2 per year? Feels like there are endless EIPs to get through and going back to the turtle pace of 1 per year doesn’t cut it.
@jchaskin22 Can we start with going back to a faster pace for upgrades? 2 per year was absolutely the right idea and strategy and it feels as soon as Tomas left we went back to too-slow-a-pace. I get that it’s difficult but without pressuring it wont happen
@BitcoinJesusETH I am also John, but we have to fix what needs fixing and the main problem IMO is we need much faster upgrades. The ecosystem needs to ship faster & speedy execution pressure is needed. Calls need more decision-making (less delays). Hope you guys help fix @ethlabs_org
@ethvisionorg No more essays, theories, manifestos or direction documents. Let’s hear about users, applications, user experience & how these solve everyday problems for real people.
