One of my favorite things in the world is when software architects come up to me and tell me how much they enjoyed my piece about how "software architect" is such a bullshit role at most companies.
I love you guys.

idea: a gameshow called Imposter Syndrome where you take 10 senior developers and tell them that one of them is actually just a sales guy who's been taught to say DevOps buzzwords. to win, they have to figure out who the fake dev is. the trick: there is no sales guy
Talk about an overachiever!
Gaze at this test image — an unexpected & deep view of the universe — captured by Webb’s Fine Guidance Sensor (FGS) in May. Built by @csa_asc to point Webb precisely at targets, taking glamour shots isn’t even FGS’s main job: https://t.co/aQUAFHcNV5
I see many software engineers *really want* their job to be just about writing clean code and immaculate architecture.
They also want to keep being promoted for doing so.
Sorry to break it: you only get promoted if you help the business. Hard to do if you don't care about it.
congratulations to this google docs PM who is singlehandedly responsible for engendering more developer goodwill than any other individual at Alphabet in the past five years
