Kobbie Mainoo is having one of the weirdest seasons in recent times.
Inexplicably ostracised by a failing manager for 6 months until they get sacked. Returns to the lineup providing the best pivot play in the Premier League as the connector of the in-form team earning his spot in England's World Cup squad but suddenly goes back to watching worse players relatively struggle in his position whilst he gets zero minutes despite being an obvious solution.
It's a good thing he has a wise head on his young shoulders.
£115m for Anderson, £105m Rice, Bellingham valued north of £100m… maybe the most expensive midfield in the world. You’d expect controlling that part of games to be the least England can do wouldn’t you.
Meanwhile you have Kobbie on the bench who cost nothing but is priceless 😏
@tezilyas England lacked an elite dribbler, they had world class players in most positions during the ‘golden generation’ but no one could unlock defences by beating a few players. Young Rooney was decent at it but he wasn’t the same post 2004
@lebthinker@R_o_M You said “SAF inherited the class of 92” Which is wrong, he actually identified/found each of those players. Also which youth players did Pep turn into great players? Messi, Xavi and Iniesta had already played over 100 games each for Barca. Busquets & Foden..that about it?
