@Tsoukalos There isn't much evidence, they don't own it and didn't steal it, it's maximally classified, and they're all getting their houses broken into, and receiving death threats. Demand they be absolved of legal liability and then challenge them to put up or shut up.
@jenteach13 I made a four year plan for teaching my toddler to read and write, didn't look at it again. Six months later he was a year ahead of plan and reading CVC words. Subject knowledge + overview of what needs to be done in what order has clarity that can beat detailed planning.
@planethunter56 He certainly has more involvement in this than just writing stuff from his imagination. He's either researched it and is convinced, or has experienced something. Both are good for us and his recent comments are fascinating.
@ChristopherHale My A-level history class went to the WW1 cemeteries in Belgium in 1998. The scale of them was staggering. The locals treated them with great respect.
@flowidealism With younger children I put a lot of weight on necessity of presenting reading as something that is both fun and important enough to be worth learning. Story time should be made special. Also essential to teach the basics in such a way that it's not made unnecessarily hard.
@tgrierhisd Teaching kindergarten, the semester I teach letter recognition that's almost my sole focus. Everyone needs to know the alphabet on schedule.
@Afinetheorem I think we'll see AI robotics producing organic crops by working autonomously like vacuum bots. Could have one in your garden planting strawberries while you sleep. Maybe a monthly fee and it comes briefly each day and does all the work. AI won't all be bad.
@VinceBoley My big objection to differentiation is that no one does it perfectly well. I saw research that about 70% of students are typically doing relevant work, which tallies. Not letting students fall behind is the critical step.
@ONTSpecialNeeds As a KG teacher, it boggles my mind when people talk about trying to help struggling readers in grade 2 or 3. Erm, we can tell when they are 4 if there is an issue. What was everyone waiting for?
@SamStrickers181 The modern world is complicated and people are pretty lost in how to deal with it. What parents need to do to prepare kids for adulthood now requires too much of them. People got shared values from society, now must devise our own coherent values. That's just one thing.
@SandyofCthulhu Should have additional cogs for management, district, and each layer of government and little speech bubbles with each saying "I can't move until you move"
@ErinCKing@SyllaSense Having the right books for beginning readers is so important. I bought a load for my son as he starts learning, so that he would be able to choose ones he likes.
@jenteach13 In this situation there are many people involved who need to coordinate to get a better result and they aren't agreed on what to do or who should do it. What needs to be done is falling down the cracks between teacher, management, district, parents, govt standards.
@jenteach13 My teaching moved up a big notch when I stopped treating everything on my to do list as equal and realised that KG kids not knowing the alphabet on schedule is an emergency.
