As the ball is coming to you, already know what you’re looking for:
• Shot
• Drive
• Pass

If you’re waiting until after the catch to decide, you’re late.

How to teach it:
Use drills where players must act immediately on the catch — no pause, no reset.

It forces quicker reads and builds game speed habits.
