@implausibleblog It seems that the Gambling Commission is the highest court in the land. Here’s an idea: withdraw from the ECHR and let the Gambling Commission take its place. Paddy Power could run a book on how long deportees survive in Rwanda, Ladbrokes could give us odds on asylum cases.
@sharrond62 Fearmongering about Labour in an attempt to keep this criminally corrupt band of shysters in government. I had thought better of you. I am unfollowing.
@LondonEconomic@MarinaPurkiss@Ofcom They seem to be testing a point. If they are not a news channel, as @Ofcom seem to believe, they are not subject to impartiality rules. But surely in that case Trading Standards apply and they shouldn’t call themselves a news channel.
THREAD: The Benefits of EU Membership
Let's remind ourselves of some of the things Brexit took from us when we left the EU. (Not an exhaustive list.)
1. No barriers to trade with the world's largest trading bloc. (Bristol, Berlin, Barcelona all equally accessible.)
This is dynamite from Kaveh Solhekol on Sky Sports News. Absolutely nails it. He has the Tories and BBC on toast. Well done!! 👏 Take 2 mins and watch👇#garylineker#ImWithGary#MOTD#ToryFascists
@mrjamesob I had the same thought while watching the news today. When they mentioned the warmth in the relationship between Sunak & van der Leyen, I thought that was only possible because, unlike Boris, he does not present as an oaf.
I just read #JewsDontCount by @baddiel. He’s vocalised thoughts I’ve had re the left: a worrying willingness to overlook #antisemitism if it’s in the name of anti-capitalism. A challenging, thoughtful, angry read, it’s also a real page-turner. That’s a real feat of authorship.
