@irritated66@GrantPaulsen Have to still beat Belgium for this tournament to be on the positive side of successful. QF or even SF has always been considered the benchmark expectation for a successful hosted Cup run. Canada met expectations and Mexico expects QF run at least.
@SnerdHerman44@NWSTwinCities Winter is still a worse experience, IMO, but yeah, summer is nicer in other places. I don't even mind the heat, its more the bugs and frequent storms.
@metalshellmedia If Infinite Baths does make the final chart, that just HAS to be the wildest song to hit the Hot 100. I'm also curious to see what kind numbers the prior albums do in the 200, I'm guessing TMBTE shows strong and TPWBYT cracks back in.
@eli_enis@pitchfork You won't see a pop act incorporate metal like they do nor will you see a metal act incorporate various pop genres to the same extent. By pigeonholing them into metal we kinda miss the point that they are incorporating sounds/styles not really found in pop music.
@eli_enis@pitchfork I think viewing Sleep Token as a metal act is the first misstep when judging their work. Very few bands actually even try to do what they do, using genres to emote rather than categorize what they do and, ending up with a record that contains about 10-15% true metal elements.
@murkymatt96@FightUsers@SOTSPodcast@HITSDD Been a fan since 2020 and everything through TMBTE was organic. Of course changing to a major label changes the game, but the timing couldn't have been better in RCA's case and I think they recognized the potential.
@SZASDTM @talkofthecharts@HITSDD Unknown to pop charts sure, but they have a massive fanbase that pulls from rock/metal/pop groups. Sold out a U.S. arena tour in a few minutes earlier this year.
@chasedeezpicks @firstroundmock@NFL_DovKleiman Just because Howell started one full season doesn't mean much. He was beat up that year and didn't look good in the brief time we saw him in Seattle.
@metalshellmedia @blyssfulll Considering Ghost raced to No. 1 on the back of vinyl sales, that bodes well for Sleep Token since country artists aren't likely consuming Week 1 album buys at the same rate.
Be interesting too to see the drop-off from Week 1 to 2 for ST. Most bands fall off the charts quick.
@metalshellmedia @blyssfulll Arcade Fire is probably the bigger challenge than Blake as far as new releases go, but I don't see them getting close. A lot of the consistent chart-topping pop acts are the real competition here. I think Sleep Token is a shoe-in for No. 1
