As Chairperson former President @MohamedNasheed has shown young politicians that leadership is about respecting people, accepting different views, and staying focused on the bigger goal.

With him leading the way towards 2028 I believe @MDPSecretariat can win the presidential election on its own without a coalition.

.@MohamedNasheed, now that you have secured the @MDPchairperson position, the priority must shift toward reunifying the party, rebuilding grassroots confidence, and positioning @MDPSecretariat to contest the 2028 presidential election from a position of strength.
This phase requires less focus on personalities and more on deep organizational reform.
Below are a few areas that come to my mind;

1. Launch a Party Reconciliation Program - The biggest challenge for MDP has not been ideology but internal divisions.

2. Reform Internal Democracy - Many members felt disconnected from decision-making.

3. Return Power to Constituencies - Many grassroots activists feel the party became too centralized.

4. Create a National Listening Tour - Rather than beginning with campaign speeches, begin with listening.

5. Build a New Generation of Leaders - A sustainable victory requires leadership renewal.

6. Develop a 2028 Policy Platform Focused on Cost of Living - Most voters care more about household issues than political disputes.

7. Strengthen Digital Grassroots Engagement - The political battlefield increasingly exists online.

8. Create a Shadow Government - Demonstrate readiness to govern before the election.

9. Rebuild the Reform Narrative - MDP's strongest historical asset was the reform movement.

10. Prepare Early for the Presidential Election - The candidate issue should be resolved well before 2028.

Possible Strategic Message: "A united MDP will build a more affordable, prosperous and democratic #Maldives where every citizen has the opportunity to succeed."

It is fascinating how every “darkest day” speech appears only after the votes are counted.

@MDPSecretariat’s members exercised their democratic right, chose their chair, with overwhelming majority as @MohamedNasheed, and suddenly democracy is “dead” because the result was not what a few people wanted.

If a transparent internal election, open to every member, becomes “misleading and manipulating” only when your preferred side loses, that says more about the narrative than about the winner.

Democracy did not break on 12 June 26, your expectations did!
