There is something deeply troubling about a society that is quick to demand the harshest punishment for children, while celebrating convicted plunderers, tolerating corruption, and rewarding leaders who normalize violence.
Young people do not grow up in a vacuum. They learn from the values we model, the behavior we reward, and the systems we build around them. Violence rarely begins at the moment it becomes visible. It is often preceded by bullying, social isolation, neglect, untreated trauma, and countless missed opportunities for intervention.
If we want children to reject violence, then we must also be willing to examine the ways our society excuses, glorifies, and profits from it. We cannot celebrate violence among adults and expect young people to learn a different lesson.
“Sayang.” “Arte.” “Imoral.”

Marami pa ring maling impormasyon tungkol sa Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.
May pananagutan. May proseso.
Our first exposure to any sort of queerness within the comic book medium is with the Philippines’ very own Zsazsa Zaturnnah. Mama taught us that authenticity and queerness are superpowers! 🏳️🌈✨

Everyone, regardless of identity or background, is worthy of safe spaces, recognition, and equal social and legal respect. Pride Month allows us to come together and reaffirm this truth, but its validity does not begin or end in June. It should guide how we treat one another every day.

For Filipino queer couples, medical decisions have become a major roadblock given existing conservative laws.
“Members of the LGBTQIA+ community do not enjoy the same rights in the face of the law, especially in marriage and family relations,” Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
“One problem they face is when one of them is hospitalized and medical decisions should be made for him, her, or them, they look for members of the family,” Belmonte added.
Hoping to bridge the gap, the Quezon City government pioneered the Right to Care card in 2023, which uses the special power of attorney to help queer couples decide on medical concerns.

“Nakakahiya”
My dad, I know he loves me. Maayos naman ang relationship namin, but he still has toxic masculinity and still wants me to be with a girl. It sucks when he told me, “Nakakahiya kayo,” when I posted a photo of me and my boyfriend on social media na magkahawak-kamay.
“Bading”
The usual word people tell me when they see my softness. I learned to embrace it. For me, it is an identity, but it hits different kapag ginagamit na pangungutya. That’s the usual word I receive from people on social media na hindi ako kilala personally.
“Palpak”
I’m an electrical engineer. I want to make the people around me proud. But every time, I fail kasi it’s not what my heart wants.
Now, I’m studying again to be a vet and work on my passion, and I want to be proud that I’m good at my profession.
