I do cloud engineering and SRE at Google. Opinions are my own, and don't represent those of my company. My follow is not an endorsement of someone's views.
I just published "A Look at Specific Fraud Claims in the 2020 U.S. Election". I think it's a helpful, fairly quick overview of the claims and their counter-evidence. https://t.co/mmlGcIyEOI
Disaster roleplaying: everyone talks about it, but few really embrace it. It can be hard to get out of our comfort zones and engage in what might seem like a game. Learn approaches and how to get past the roadblocks from @phoebus of @Google at LFI Conf! https://t.co/JsSTpLmZYM
@PayamMiri @AdamKinzinger That’s not how guns work. If you are shooting a gun at someone it needs to only be if you are justified in using deadly force. “Shooting to wound” and other bullshit like that will *increase* unnecessary deaths.
@LennyDykstra@sofiakinzinger@AdamKinzinger Folks this is what it looks like when someone hasn’t done anything worthwhile since the 80s but is too much of a baby to deal with it.
@CosmosActual@mikesrsic@AndyOstroy Reading your feed makes me sad. It’s hard to fathom how you could be a “professor”, you’ve definitely disgraced yourself as a veteran, from one to another.
@nuke83_g @WaifuEliminator @BlizzardCS There certainly are. None of them are perfect. Given that we don’t know much about the attack dynamics (or even if it is one), it’s hard to speculate about what should or shouldn’t be done yet. Even folks like CloudFlare would acknowledge the unique nature of this application.
@WaifuEliminator @nuke83_g @BlizzardCS Out of curiosity, can you tell me exactly what steps you’d take to mitigate a large DDoS attack on a stateful, public-facing application within a few minutes of commencement and with no disruption to the user, while maintaining viable economics? If solved you should start a firm.
@Hoont I mean by that logic, there are hundreds of millions of guns owned by Americans that aren’t used in mass (or any) shootings.
Maybe we should consider both angles?
